Dear Yamaha,
I was riding my R1 today and believe I have uncovered a major reliability issue with the front end. For some reason the damn thing just cannot stay on the ground. I'll be riding along and all of a sudden I cannot see the horizon which forces me to stand up on the foot pegs. Do you think you might have provided the bike with too much power? Does the front end have an anti-gravity device onboard you have not disclosed to the customer? I'm really considering getting a knobby rear tire to cut down on the traction. Perhaps when it happens it will just spin the back tire instead. The problem seems to be the worst in 5th gear at around 130 mph. I've already tried sitting on the tank with my feet hanging over the front fairing hoping that would help. Unfortunately this only makes matters worse NOT BETTER!!!
I wonder if putting a 43 tooth front sprocket and a 18 tooth rear sprocket will help???
I really don't want to have to send the bike in but will if necessary to keep this from happening to other unsuspecting customers. Any help/feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
JG
