That's right, two bikes.

If you were going to buy another bike, and keep your R-1, what would it be, and why.

I'm kinda torn between a Warrior, or a Busa myself.

Speak up!:)

Well I've already got 3...

But I'm looking to get a fourth! I'm torn between a Supermoto like a KTM Duke or a cruiser like the Warrior. I had a custom softail once with a 96" S&S motor with custom flame paint and chrome everywhere. It was fun having people ask me if they could take pictures of my bike every time I stopped for gas, but the maintenance sucked! So if I get a warrior and dress it up all nice I could have a hot lookin cruiser with low maintenance... But cruiser's are only good for posing, supermotos are good for riding like a nut ripping wheellies from every intersection, stoppies at every red light, backing it into corners and power wheelying out. Shear fun!

Oh why must I have such terrible dilemma’s?!

It's funny you should ask. I am in the process of purchasing a second bike. I am going to buy a Ducati Monster S4. I want something that is alittle more comfy, and really ride 2 up, but I don't want to give up performance and style.

My current second, third, and fourth bikes are (and why)

'01 YZ250 - 'cause I race. Soon to be replaced with a thumper (YZ450F or KTM525SX)

'00 KTM 640LC4 - 'cause it goes on the street and the trails. Soon to be sold because I promised my wife it would go if I got the R1 :(

'84 BMW R100RS - because the wife likes to ride on the back and I can ride it all day in the twisties and not get tired. Yeah, its a little slow, but its different. :thumbup

BUT - if the R1 where the only street bike I had and I was shopping a second, what would I get...

I think (just don't ask me again next week 'cause I will change my mind) I would get a Yamaha FJR1300 - fast and comfy! Other possibility would be something exotic and different - either a Bimota, Laverda, or Moto Guzzi :D

Get V-rod if you got the money. If you want something cheap but gets a lot of looks, buy a 87 or 88 Honda Magna. They can cost anywhere between 3,000 and 5,000. The bike can blow almost every cruiser away. I got two 88's and my R1. I get compliments all the time when I ride the Magna's.:jump

Hi , i am using this reply as my first post as i just got an R1 as my second bike ( well, third really, but my 250 CRM will be relegated to bike 3 from now on )
Ive had a Honda Blackbird for three years ( great bike , but perhaps not the place to go on about it ) and i fancied a sports bike. Looked at trade in prices against a new GSX but could not bring myself to sell the B/B, then i heard of a 'mint'98 R1 for about the same money as i needed to trade so i bought that. The plan is to see which one i ride the most and trade em both for a newer version , but i quite like having both so dont know which way i'm going yet.
Quite enjoying opening the garage door and surveying my 'fleet' and choosing.
First impressions are great......had a fiddle with suspension settings this w/end and improved it already (good site for tech info ).
That'l do for now

A Ducati 998, yellow mono or biposto. In fact I will be getting one next year and it will be my primary bike.

Since I will have that as my primary I will need to find a secondary, so I pick my second bike to be a 2003 R1 :).

If I had the cash to get another bike I think I would buy a Cannondale S440 Super Motard. It's fuel injected, Ohlins suspension, four piston brakes with wave rotors among other things. :rock Pretty sweet I think. Just my opinion though...

Thanks

Everone's opinion is much appreciated.

And welcome to the forum APTinUK!

You're gonna really like that '98...
that's the bike that stood the world on it's ear:fact

There's a few bikes that are worthy enough to be a second.

TL1000S is a blast! 427 lbs 120 hp(pipep) great range of power. Plus it's almost naked. Still not pillon friendly.
Cheap power used 4K miles 4 to 5 grand.

Monster 900 or S4 for the pure enjoyment of the ride. Great city bike. 420 ilbs 80 to 103 hp. Also not pillion friendly. S4 lots o' cash 12,900. 900 8500 to 9300 for an 2001

VFR the best all around bike? Useable power(2002 107 hp), VTEC sound, hard bags for touring, RANGE 200 miles from a tank doing 80. Pillion will love it! Nice big semi-wide seat and no putting her knees into your ribs.10,000 new kinda a lot for a second bike.

1200 Bandit the torque monster! Like to wheelie? Want a fairing no problem, don't no problem. Good comfy seat and the pillion will be happy. Last thing that rules about it...only 7300 new.

This is all assuming that you have an R1 to start. Me I ride the 02 VTEC VFR. The R1 is a great play/track bike.
Hope to have an 00 in the spring.
