As some of you are aware, I am looking for a bike, but in the meanwhile I am going to get all my gear together so I am ready to go since I sold all my old gear with my R6.

I live in FL so you have to remember its hot 11/12 months, but I like to be protected!

What do you guys think about this gear? If you have any input or recommendations, please throw them out there!

Helmet: (I have a huge head)
SHOEI GT-Air REVIVE TC-1 L Size 59cm Full face helmet Color Black/Red
I had this one before: GMax GM54S Titanium LED Modular Motorcycle Helmet
Pros:
well vented
integrated sun visor
Cons:
heavy
noisy
wind drag

Jacket: (5'11 medium build @ 180lbs)
Alpinestars GP Plus R Perforated Mens Leather Armored Motorcycle Riding Jacket
I had this one before: JOE ROCKET MENS PHOENIX 5.0 JACKET
Pros:
well vented
Cons:
a lot of wind drag
neck part loose

Gloves: (thicker fingers, not super long)
Alpinestars SMX-3 Air Gloves White/Black/Red

Shoes: (I am currently using these)
SS RUN W/BULLS SHOE 2.0 BLK

What do you guys swear by(summer only gear)?

I live in Florida too, my jacket is the Icon Hooligan Jersey, more mesh than textile but with armor, very well ventilated. Does a good job in the Florida heat. I went with this jacket because of how well ventilated it is.

I love Scorpion helmets, a lot of helmet for not a lot of moneys.

Alpinestars summer gloves.

Asolo hiking boots.

Get whatever you want and can afford really. I used a leather jacket when I lived in Va and it was humid up there too. That jacket was not very well ventilated though, but was comfortable. I prefer leather, but I wanted to give the Icon a try since I now live down here.

OK, thank you for the review. I am def. looking for something that isn't loose.

I am going to be on the interstate often and out back on the country roads. So a lot of high speeds. I need something that is snug.

Agreed on the ICON Hooligan Jersey. And like Blackraizo stated. It flaps a little in the midsection but overall it is a solid item. No preotection though if that matters to you. Speed and Strength makes a hoodie with protection in it and it is somewhat light, so its not killer during our Summers.

Boots: I use a pair of climbing/hiking boots that are steel toed and come up over my ankles.

Gloves: Icon Hypersport Pro Gloves. They are light but still have great protection and they breath pretty well. Kangaroo leather on the palms which lasts a while and is soft too.

Helmet: Scropion is a great helmet for alittle price, but I love ym ICON stuff so i would say any ICON helmet will do you great. But thats mostly just preference.

I've tried on Icon helmets before and the XXL wouldn't even slip over my head lol They are small as fck.

I am a little skeptical on getting the Shoei because its a lot of money and I would really like to try it on in a store before buying it to make sure it fits right. Around here I doubt I'll find that helmet in a store.. I guess I could always return it if it doesn't fit online, but then I'd be paying for shipping.

Anyone have any experience regarding how Shoei's fit?

All leather all the time.

Bell helm
Alpinestars gauntlet gloves
Alpinestars 1pc suit
Spidi xpd 3 boots
Alpinestars back protector
Bohn chest protector

Whether I'm on track or on my way to the grocery store, I wear the same thing. :yesnod

One of my helmets is the Shoei GT-Air Revive and I can tell you that it's not the best helmet for a lot of ventilation. It doesn't vent much (if any) air to the face, it vents a little across the top of your head. I'm in TX and when it's hot the GT-Air gets stuffy. I have a Shoei X-12 that vents way better than the GT-Air, but is not a quiet as the GT-Air (not a big deal if you wear earplugs).

I do like the Gt-Air because it's quiet and I often like to wear it with headphones playing music. At city speeds you can crack the visor and get more airflow that way.

Thanks for this helpful input. I will def. not go witht he GT-Air if its hot.

Is the TX-12 that much louder?

for what its worth i ride with touring pants by Joe Rocket, not crash tested but i've been very happy with 'em... JoeR leather jacket n' Titan (gauntlet gloves) by Held w/ AGV GP Tech lid n' SIDI VOrtice boots :thumbup

AGV GP-Tech helmet
Alpinestars GP Pro gloves
Alpinestars SuperTech R boots
Technic onesie leathers (all my coworkers call it the power ranger suit)

Whatever you do remember, "It's better to sweat than bleed". Take it from someone who sees the results of not wearing protection almost daily, put it on.

Just tried on the GT-Air and the RF-1200

Both are Shoei's and the GT-Air seemed to fit better, but less vents :(

The RF-1200 fit pretty good as well and has more vents. I think I'm going to go with this option and a tinted screen.

I see your in SWFL {Fort Myers?}. I no longer ride the street, but when I did for hot Summer going to and from work I wore a Fieldsheer poly mesh jacket with soft armor, teknic full gauntlet gloves, work boots and work BDU's along with my Shoei RF 900 helmet. Florida is very hot, but you still need to wear your gear. Ride safe...
