Actually what is this piece of cloth called exactly and what is its function (other than covering the brake fluid cylinder)? And where can you buy these things?

As I understand it, it also protects the fluid from sunlight as sunlight can have some negative effects on brake fluid. I don't think it's really to help with leaks as the brake system should be completely sealed.

Im no pro,but Im fairly sure youre on the right track there buddy. The sunlight tends to make the fluid "sweat" or something like that:dunno

:iamwithst :beer it supposably prevents the fluid from breakdown caused by sunlight. But in my opinion its just pure bullshit :bs

The sweatband is primarily used on the track as its supposed to act as an absorbant in case of crash damage. (Keeps brake fluid spillage on the track surfack to a minimum).

I think it's a head band so you can cover your helmet head when your off the bike ......... :crash

Actually it’s for track use to catch any leaks from the fluid heating up and bubbling out. I didn’t think I would need it but after a race I noticed there was some fluid on my windscreen. It was brake fluid and I think you know what that does to screens. And I know the top was fully secured!

Heavy breaking for a prolonged period of time can cause the brake fluid to boil and can actually leak out. That’s why the high quality racing fluids say something in regards to high boiling point or high heat.
