With some of these hotter running engines I like to run Motul 15w50. I did this in my 2009 R1 and my 1199 and 1199R (current racebike). What oil are you guys and gals running track and/or road use?

Motul 15w50 is a track oil. How many miles between oil changes? I do a couple track days a year. I wanted to switch to Motul but that weight is for a track bike so I plan to stick with yamalube. The temperatures while riding probably hover around the 200 area.

Do you realize that the factory has specified synthetic oil?

Given that the engine seems to run rather hot, it may be wise to follow the factory's recommendation.

Also, a true synthetic which is next to impossible to identify. So, YamahaLube synthetic, or Motul 300V (some Ester base but short drain intervals) or Motul 7100 (PAO base with some Ester in additive package), or Red Line (ester base). NOT Mobile 1 (no one knows what is in it!) or any of the others that claim to be synthetic but are NOT!

X2.

Considering the engine development was performed with this oil and considering it is the only oil used by the BSB guys, the FIM Superstock guys and the World Endurance teams, I see no reason to use something else.

Millers Yamaha said it came from the factory with synthetic. And in the users manual it says to use synthetic 10w-40 or 15w-50. When Yamaha says to use 10w-40 it's because they know the user may choose to not use Yamalube and use Motul, Mobil one, etc.

Im probly going with Motul 7100.
My 09 R1 had 44000km on it, and i always used that oil.

At each oil change (5000km) the oil I drained out, could had been easly mistaken for new oil.

I sold that bike now, but I talked to the new owner who had an general service and valve clearance inspection.
The yamaha mechanic didnt had to do anything, and said that the engine looked like new inside.

Also my local yamaha dealer recommends Motul 7100 for off track purposes.
