Curious to know the percentage of R1 owners that have a steering damper?:hellobye
Why should it be 100%. I have no problems with mine with no damper. I wouldn't waste the money. If you have your suspension set up properly I don't think the minor bar shaking is a problem. I ride hard in bumpy twisies and have never had a tank slapper. Yes the bars do oscillate a bit when the front gets light on crests and things but I like that feed back. I think too many people are using dampers to mask other problems. No vote for me.R1SpeedMaster said:It should be 100%
No, I have both front & rear setup very well and would'nt be caught without a damper on track mainly and like having it for the street as well.Kirk said:All you guys that say you must have a damper, are you still running standard suspension settings?
I think he was referring to the dirt bike there.Stoopstroop said:Muscle out a tank slapper???? Yeah right!!!! The 2 bad ones ive had the big green guy couldnt hold on to!![]()
Yeah BD that's what I was alluding to. As I said I think suspension also plays a part in many of the problems encountered by riders on here. It is a different matter on the track when you are pushing 100%.Big Daddy said:Theres many parameters that play into this that aren't mentioned like, body language/position, smoothness while moving about on the bike, smooth bar inputs all translates into a controlled ride OR not so depending on your style it deffinately ends up being a preference thing.

Martin, I presume you are talking to me. As I said I push pretty hard on bumpy twisties and have done that for a long time. I have had no reason to buy a damper to date. If I was going to have problems I would have by now.martinc said:Hhaaaaaa, the argument of the suspension setup right.......makes me laugh every time.
You"ll get one soon, hope that will be after a bad tankslapper and not a crash.
