What size tire to get?

I just got a '02 R1 and need tires for it, Im thinking either Pirelli Corsa III or Michilen PP 2CT or perhaps Dunlops.
Now the size I need advise on, the bike I believe has a 45t rear spocket and stock front but I can't tell for sure since it has a cover over it has a 180/55 rear bald tire on it now.
My question should I get another 180/55, 190/55 or 190/50 my main concern is that it won't rub the swingarm or any other parts and it will be mostly for weekend twisties and some commuting...moderate to aggressive riding style.
What width is my rear rim a 5.5 or 6" for a '02, I don't want to pinch the tire if it is too wide.

I have been running a 180/55 since 2003. No complaints at all! I say 180 simply because it is cheaper. Most guys will argue about the contact patch, but if you aren't on the track and being agressive, then why worry about it.

Stock sizes are usually the best for a stock chassis...

2002 R1
120/70/17 Front
190/50/17 Rear

Going to a 180/55 probably won't make a big difference in handling... might make it turn in a bit faster (the 190/50 is a flat profile, and tends to be a bit sluggish, the 190/55 is more rounded and similar to the 180/55, but also taller and might have clearance issues...).

I think you would be fine with the 180... Considering what you plan to do with the bike.
