Unused portion of the tire. Used to seperate the posers from the true canyon scratchers.

mkila, just look at your tires man... :lol
Smart ass.....:rant

Actually I was told that I lean too much for canyon riding..... But it doesn't make sense, a new tire doesn't have anything that resembles a chicken or a strip.... I'm like WTF does that mean.....

But thanks guys.....:thumbup MKINLA getting edjumacated

dang...I thought someone was gonna explain chicken strips :(

I'll take a piece of that chicken!!!

:sneaky
Chicken Strips = The part of the tire that has YET to be scrubbed off, hence, contacted with the road. "The unused area around each edge of a tire where full lean hasn't been reached and the rubber isn't scrubbed in".....
More importantly.. an INCORRECT guage of one's riding skills.
Chicken Strips... Squid's.. relax.. Time will erase all "strips"in the end... Better to get there in one piece, and have that baby shine another day, than risk it all for thine ego.

I prefer to explain chickenstrips from a psychological viewpoint:
Insecure people are constantly looking for ways to show they're better at something than other people. Among motorcyclists, this is manifested in the observation of other riders' rear tires. If the insecure rider can find a tire with more unused tread at the edges than his own tire, he can than tell himself that he is a better rider. This behavior is sometimes thought to fall under the category of COMPENSATION, but further study is needed.

These rider/compensators (RCs) are difficult to spot, but you can conduct a simple experiment to flush one out. Take a few turns at a moderate speed, but lean your body in the opposite direction i.e., lean hard left while making right turns. Be sure to get both sides. This will eliminate the chicken strips even at slow speeds. Now park the bike at a local sportbike hangout. The RC will note your lack of unused tread and assume you are a rider of extreme skill and courage. At this point, the RC can be spotted, because they become aroused and will usually offer to do very personal favors for you.

Exactly why I use ones peg scrubbers as a better indication of his riding ability . When one passes you in a turn , has his knee down and his peg just threw sparks in your face ....Damn !:bow

...Oh , that method works but does not bubble up the edge as it never gets hot enough . A wrinkled edge or little balls of rubber there is cooler :p
