Ive always wanted a carbon fiber helmet and the AGV is what i want but i ride with 2 guys that have them so thats not happening. I was looking around instagram and came upon some bell helmets so i checked them out and to my surprise they had a couple nice graphics and they're CF. Ive only ever owned Arai so im looking for some feedback on bell. Im purely a street rider but i also dont want a shitty helmet and at $750 a pop these things arent that cheap

No need to shell out for a pista if your looking for CF helmet. Now if you want the top of the line CF helmet get the pista. Bell top of the line helmets are fantastic. Are they better than AGV, Shoei, Arai? I don't think so. Are they any worse? No.

Recently purchased the Bell Pro Star,
o excellent quality, great carbon weave pattern
o shield removal/install is noob proof, significantly better than Arai RX-Q and Signet
o shield movement, open/close mechanism is excellent
o venting is reasonably easy to adjust with gloves on
o good noise reduction
o sizing is a bit on small side, careful if internet purchase without pre-fitting
o could use a bit more padding in couple areas, behind/above temple area

~ Would recommend and or buy another, previous Bell was the Eddie Lawson replica..... been using Arai for last 10 years....

good comments above.. my old man has owned a couple of different Bells through his years of riding and he's always been happy with them..

they have been around for a bloody long time, if not mistaken we used them back in the 70s and 80s..

i have been lovin' my AGV GP-TECH going on 5 years now and i' really like how light these helmets are, Carbon fiber is definitely the way to go..

I will take a closer look at the Bell series of CF composite lids..

Like your old man, Bell TourStar was my 1st full helmet. In fact I think it may have been one of the 1st full helmets made when most people were still wearing 3/4 helmets. I still have that helmet that I purchased in 1976. Don't use it, just keep it as a show piece. I currently mostly use a Shoei SX12 I think it's called and love it but also have 3 other med quality helmets I use when just banking around the city. I love the new Bell's and will get one soon!

I used to wear Arai Corsairs until I crashed a couple of them. Replacing them hurt a bit, so I tried out a Bell Star. It's a great helmet, but the fit and finish does not rival the Corsair. Bang for buck, the Bell is a better buy so that's what I buy now. I've since owned a couple RS1's and they're actually my go to race helmet because they're similar to the Star (but not as plush and comfy) and they're priced very well for what you get IMO.

I really appreciate all the feedback guys!

So i tried to call around to see who had one to try on for size and out of 5 huge dealerships no one has any in stock and its all special order. One guy even went as far to ask why i wanted a bell when i currently have an arai WTF. I did get a pretty sweet offer from a dealer on a pista gp solid though, my buddies have the VR46 version so im technically not copying lol The bell will be just under $1k and the pista he'd do for $1150.

Don't know where you are, Bell is located in Santa Cruz Ca and you can make an appt. to get a custom fitting and they will build to your exact head shape. Try motocard, got a flat carbon pista for 852 plus 66 for import exc tax, also hit up the shops here and see what they can do.... I like the new bell shape, However they have always been noisier than Shoei or Arai.. Now they have a Gloss version of the AGV Pista :hammer:

I would kill for a custom fit but im in Canada.

Owe you big time for suggesting motocard. They have so many versions and the prices are the best ive seen but the only thing that scares me is the import tax, ive been hit with $150 on a $600 item before. I cant really see the difference between the gloss and the cheaper carbon tho, I always thought the reg carbon was glossy.

https://www.motocard.com/en/helmets/agv-pista_gp_r_glossy_carbon_002.aspx

just checked and it looks like the taxes and duties shouldn't be too bad because they use express saver option which waves the prep charges which would be about $70. The duties is still 2.7% from what i found though

I ride only Bell Star Carbons. I'm on my 4th one. I buy a new one every two years on Black Friday from Sport Bike Track gear for $350 which is 1/2 price.

I live in Florida so air flow is my #1 reason for purchasing and staying with the model.

Yea they are pretty good, If you are (johnny on the spot) sometimes they run one hour to one day sales that are just great. They had the top of line pista for 752. in my cart and I was looking around at other sites and went back to purchase it while I was looking at it the price jumped to 852. ARRGGHHHH!!!! :shake snooze you loose LOL

Crashed my bells, great helmets. Seem to be the best air flowing helmet I've owned. One low side and one flip over the front of the bike. The helmet I low sided in I still use as my track helmet for my car. It suffered only one small scratch, never slammed my head into the ground.

The other bell hit my front tire when the tire was completely sideway, shot the visor off and my cheek made contact with the tire. I don't fault the helmet for that, and tire rotating that fast sideways is going to move any helmet, doesn't matter which brand.

I love the bell, I loved my AGV. My shoei didn't fit my crown, so I sold that one after a few rides. the bell and shoei are really similar in quality to me, so the choice was easy.

I ride with ear plugs so no helmet noise for me, but honestly more air movement means more noise. Some people can't seem to understand that. I'd much rather not sweat as much.

I get a new helmet at least every year. All top ot the line stuff - Arai Corsair, Shoei GT-Air, Bell Star carbon, etc. I liked them all.... but

EVERYTHING CHANGED WITH THE NEW BELL RACE STAR. Superior technology throughout, superior fit, superior air flow, superior quietness, superior visor interlock system, superior visor optics, photochromatic Transitions visor (backordered), superior head checks and tuck vision with Panovision face opening and visor, superior light weight, magnetic strap tab, magnetic cheek pads and liner, superior helmet bag, etc., etc. Try one! It's a GAME CHANGER.

i fit arai large, shoei large, avg large.. get the idea? lol

arai used to be more of a round head shape.. the new Corsair is different and fits me very nice, reason i've stuck with shoei and avg in the past is the 'like a glove' fit..
but as mentioned the new Corsair is very nice and i really dig it.. i may get one.

OHHHH i f#$@ing get it alright, you think you have a bigger D$@K because you wear large helmets and i have a small one because i wear small helmets right :1pok:
just messing lol I know a lot of people say the helmets all fit the same for the most part but my last 4 arais were all small and the when i tried a shoei x12 in a small that thing barely went on and when i did manage to get it on i had to take it off right away because it hurt so bad. For me i would never buy a helmet that i couldnt try on and keep on for a bit.

Figured out the difference with the agvs Khanks, They now have a new version of the Pista called the Pista R and it comes in matte or gloss. just looking at the ads i couldnt tell the difference between them and why the gloss pista was 750 and the gloss pista r was 1100. The Pista r is a revised model for 2017. FML because now i want that and its $1500 canadian.
