Okay so I was on a two lane 40mph highway going about 35 in the left lane passing a car on the right (only car on the road clear infront/behind me) going prob 30? so I nail the throttle thinking Im in second, well Im in first and the front flys up I drop the front down and shift into 2nd and continue on to a red light (now doing a good 55 mph)... well Im at the red light waiting to do a U-turn when I see a police car come flying up behind me no lights with his left blinker following me on the turn, so light turns green and I do my u-turn and see him follow me still no lights, so I pull off right there at a movie theater parking lot and he follows me in putting his lights on...So I get off the bike and he asks me what im doing and I tell him going to the movies...he then asks if I know why he is pulling me over, I then explain yeah i accelerated to fast and the front wheel came up...He then goes on to say he has an F1 and some of his friends have R6s and they dont just come up that they are not "rockets" And tells me he saw me use the clutch to delibertly do a wheelie..WHICH I HONESTLY DIDNT MEAN TO DO THIS WHEELIE!...I go on to tell him that this is an R1 and he says thats way to small to be an R1 and that it doesnt matter "he has a 1000 and it just doesnt do wheelies" I try to show him that it is an R1 and tell him i dont drive like that at all.. he interupts saying you know what i wasnt going to give you a ticket but since you are being an ass about it and and didnt admit to doing a wheelie you will recieve (forget what he called it..maybe a driving to endanger summons) in the mail and will have to go to court and could loose your motorcycle licence for30 days...He then says Im lucky hes not giving me a ticket and askes if this is my right address and gives me my licence back and says: "AND YOU BETTER HOPE IM IN A GOOD ****IN MOOD WHEN WE GO TO COURT!!"...SOOO Im wondering what it is he gave me...and why i didnt get any writen citation...I dont know if he was trying to scare me..does anyone have any experience with this or knowledge on these kind of things? Thanks for any help guys...I wonder how long it usually takes to get a summons like this in the mail?:dunno :dunno :scared

There may be such a thing but I bet the guy was just trying to leave and impression on you. Some people just have to feel important to look them selves in the mirror at the end of the day. If you get one in the mail, I would bet he wont show up... still just hassling you to make himself feel big. If he does, you tell the judge it was a mistake and explain that the bike is capable of this type of thing. Worst case he will give you some small fine and tell you to knock it off. In the end... it will just be a huge waste of everyone involveds time.

I just think its weird I didnt get any citation on the spot, and he didnt ticket me for speeding?:dunno I asked my criminal law professor at college and she said it sounds like he is trying to scare me but she isnt familiar with that. I hope this is the case... :ugh

The thing im worried about is getting A wreckless driving...loss of controll over the vehicle or DTE (driving to endanger..which is the most popular in massachusetts) in the mail..All of these are criminal charges and he warned me that i could loose my licence for 30 days and said I better hope hes in a good ****in mood at court... so???:dunno

i went to jail for a night and then did 3 months of prob because "i was doing 100 in a 65 and the cop paced me (in an expedition none the less) for 2 miles. first of all i was doing 160 racing my buddy. and the guy said i was doing wheelies which how can you do wheelies at 160? anyway it wasnt even the expedition that pulled me over. it was a reg cop car and it was like 6 miles past the point where i was racing. i think a civilian called it in and they just took thier word for. to make a long story short, i still got charged with careless driving and had to pay big fines even though it wasnt a cop that actually saw me.

I would expect to get alot if i was doing somthing crazy like riding multiple wheelies and driving over 100 mph...but I wasnt and I didnt even mean to do a wheelie...I was using 2nd gear throttle controll in first which launched it up at 40 mph...:2bitchsla this from the cops stand point looked like me pulling the clutch in and riding a wheelie out...which i did not do!

well i think if you have to appear in court you will have to get serverd, i dont think they can just give you a court date by mail because there is always that chance of mail error, so i would look to be server a summons in person, by the way what town in mas did this happen in.

Dont worry about it unless it showes up in the mail.. then stick by your story if you hav eto go to court, that it was an accident. Just because he has a 1kcc bike, doesnt mean that it can the wheel off the ground with his fat :butt on the back, or that he has a crusier :lol

Judges can be pretty fair if you keep your cool and play it maturely.

Bum wrap, sorry , Man.

If it were me, I'd sweat bullets until something came or didn't come, I couldn't take not knowing. I'd call a lawyer in the yellow pages advertising for traffic tickets and say if you get it you may wnat him, but what is it that the cop may have done - s/he will probably know & share. You could also cruise by a dunken donuts & catch a cop in a good mood .. you know, maybe one that's on his 3rd or 4th donut, and ask him if he knows what that is or is the guy yankin your chain. He'd probably say, but don't ask if he's not eatin at least one donut yet, he'd probably write you up for wreckless hessitation of donut consumption.

G'luck bro.

Arguing with the cop at the side of the road is never the place to contest a ticket, and apparently caused you one in this case. Be polite, couteous, and respectful. Your time to make your case is later in court if it comes to that.

Oh and I feel your pain on the mis-gear. I almost looped my ZX9 a couple of years ago under the same situation. I just got my gear indicator today for the R1, hopefully to prevent that happening.

wheelieness is next to godliness

I got a ticket for doing a wheelie just the other night. However, I did it on purpose. It was a simple clutch up in first, I was not speeding nor did I ever exceed the speed limit, the traffic was not heavy, and I just didn't see the cop behind me (woops). He flashed his lights immediately, and I pulled over. I was honest, I have a clean record, and I told him I was just being stupid. He gave me negligent, I can take stop class. Never fight with cops, it can only make the situation worse, in the end, they have the final say.

:iamwithst

I dont know how it in Mass, but here in Cali, when u get a ticket (which is a notice to appear) u are required to sign the ticket as proof of service. Getting a ticket is like getting a subpoena, which has to be served, meaning u had to sign for it. They cant just send u somthing in the mail cuz there's no proof that u rec'd it and are aware of the court date. The only way I think this guy can get u to court is by sending it through the post office as certified mail, or have someone personally knock on ur door and serve u (mind u this doenst happen in CA). Anywayz, hope that helps.

BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAA:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

thats great...I gotta remember that one...Oh get a good lawyer and you'll be fine. I went to jail for a few hours for the same thing except I actually was meaning to do a wheelie. Cop towed my bike, took me to jail. they let me out and I had to walk about 6 miles to where my bike was towed to, then pay $70 to get it out of impound. bastard ran me off the road too. Long story short I paid a lawyer $200 and I didn't even have to show up for court. and the ticket never made it on my record. Funny part was the cop said he owned 3 sport bikes but when he tried to move it he couldn't get it out of gear and didn't pull the clutch in so the back tire just skidded along...lol stupid cop. too bad there aren't more of em around like solidus.
