just got her back from the 600 mile service, and strangly the bike is taking much less throttle to pull out of first. Anyway, now that I can start working the throttle some, I would like to know from you wheelie kings, where you start your wheelies from (RPM wise) and do you use your clutch at all, or just the throttle?

thanks
hm

just curious

if your at sea level.... any where you want I would guess. I know that up here in Mormonville, I had to drop a tooth to get third gear to come up easier, (with the clutch unless you are in first). Haven't really been riding as many wheelies as I have in the past with my other bikes, I found that it really beats them up.

BTW, you should have posted in the Stunters section...

:iamwithst Don't listen to dumbass....the easiest way to wheelie an R1 is to "Power-Wheelie".....basically bring the RPM to 6-7 grand while riding in first....drop throttle and dump immediateley....it's harder to do that in 2nd and 3rd......you may have to pop the clutch at around 8-9 grand....good luck and ride safe.

thanks for the quick notes everyone. I ride at about 200ft above sea level. I got the feeling this bike needed to start up higher in the revs before you dump and pump the throttle, so I'll wait til after 1K miles. at that rpm in 3rd, aren't you into triple digit speeds? not ready for that just yet. I have the 16t on order because I thought the bike was soft down low, but since the 600 mile service, I have been rethinking it.

sorry about posting on the wrong forum, newbie-itis I guess.

any and all other tips welcome.

Dude, not a real pleasant way to treat your fellow R1 forum
brother. Really, he's right it should have been posted in the
stunters section.

hsmunoz, try doing a search on the subject.

Don't worry about where you posted it ! Who cares, it's not a test, and you're not in school, you're not gonna fail because of it ! By the way, if you have to clutch this bike to wheelie it, you don't know how to wheelie ! First three gears are no problem at all, even fourth is possible without dumping the clutch. The bike stands up in fourth at 219 Km's with a little tug on the bars when you let off and snap the throttle ! The first three gears are ssmmootthh power wheelies all the way after 7 grand ! Have fun !!!

I have a 16 tooth sprocket and can wheelie mine easlily (power) in 1st and 2nd, and about 2-3 feet in 3rd. I bet if somebody really knows how to wheelie than 3rd wouldn't be a problem either. Also I am about 6000 feet above sea level. Your 4th gear should feel like my 3rd gear up hear, so 1st 2nd and 3rd shouldn't be all power and if you practice 4th enough I bet you can power it up also.:thumbup

I may also be retarded but, Isn't this the stunters section? From what I'm reading at the top of the page, It says "Stunter's Corner". That's why I'm reading in this section. I apologize in advance if I'm wrong. Please let me know if there is another section for stunting, or if this thread has been relocated.:dunno

You think this bike is pulling hard after the 600 mile marker, wait till you get to around 2500, that's where i am right now, and it's WAY more powerfull now then when i got it. I like to do my wheelies a little slower then these guys, i just grab a little clutch in first and bring it up to or around balance point stand up staggerd to get used to this bike, my other bikes where 600's so it's a little different to me where the balance is and the power is so unbleivable...
