I would call stadium Yamaha in TX. since they don't show the color you need online (they do show other colors for $162.99), MR Cycles, Ron Ayers , Romney Cycles would be good to try also.

 

Think I'm going to go with Tlrich's suggestion but thanks for your input, I'll keep Stadium in mind for when/if I need replacement parts lol.

Since the seat is black, I ordered a black Chinese made "knock off" Rear cowl on eBay for 35.00, It will be here in a few days and I will post pictures for you.

It's glossy, but I may go the same route. Maybe I'll get a matching color for the black portion of the gas tank so my OCD doesn't make my eye twitch every-time I look at my bike.

knock off versions will fit okay, i purchased one from FireDragonBrothers, but the clearcoat is not as good as oem and over time the color will dull a tiny bit, i dont think its a big deal though considering cost :dunno

 

Seems like the majority of the people here have the eBay special. I had mine for a long time without issues.

 

GYTR doesn't have a solo cowl to match your '14? If your picky about colour, fit, and finish you can't beat the genuine Yamaha stuff. That's what I have on mine.

That grey was only on the 2013 model, my tail is much darker. Here's a video showing the difference in color on the 2014 R1's.

The 2013 (year i have) and 2014 (year my buddy has) are the same matte grey. color codes are the same @ colorrite and yamaha as well. Yamaha color code is MNM3 on both bikes. IDK how or why it looks different in that video tho!

 

The color codes will be the same on both the 2013 and 2014 because both bikes are the same grey, however, the code doesn't take the tail section into account which is a much darker shade of grey as seen in the link I posted.

Received tail cover today. The finish is quite glossy and has a few small imperfection in the molding process that are difficult to see. The over all quality is good but not great. It is missing the two little rubber grommets but you can transfer the ones of the rear seat. It also has a place for the allen wrench tool to take off the front seat to access the tools. I am very happy with the purchase and it looks good on the bike.

Once the rubber grommets are attached the tail piece fitment is quite tight.

 

Nice, thanks for the follow-up. That doesn't look half bad although I'd still have to even it out somehow; maybe a tinted windscreen..

Also, it looks like the Chinese seat cowls don't come with the helmet hook.
