OK guys dont get me wrong here, I know since 1998 there has been alot of upgrades to the R1 such as styling, suspension, engine mods, swingarm and many more, but my question is this.
Since the later model has got 'Ram Air' I know it relys on this to peak at 170hp (at the flywheel). The earlier models were 150hp and were supposed to be 'king of the sportsbikes' with thier rapid 1000cc motor packed into a 600cc chassis.
The other day my '99 model hit 183mph on a deserted motorway (for 3 miles) and got there quite quickly too. I beleive that these bikes are geared to around 185mph (don't quote me) and basically I want to know what difference the later models are to my earlier '99 model. I'm talking about stock models not modded sprockets with teeth missing etc.
What would the difference be on acceleration? or is it a case of the rider skills? is it that noticable? is the mid range alot greater on the later models?
I'd like to hear everyones input on this as many people have biased opinions about THEIR R1 !
