haha, white wheels become black pulling the bike out of the garage. this is no joke, they clean up really easily, but yes they get dirty.

even the back wheel, where i dont even touch the rear brake, will get brake dust lines on the wheel in 5 seconds.

 

I painted my wheels gold last summer and now I have to clean them after every 100 miles or so... It's a pain but it's worth it. I would just suggest you use a clear coat that is brake dust/debris friendly to make life a tad bit easier. Post pix when you paint em!

 

They are stupid easy to keep clean..

I use liquid soft scrub and a wet sponge.

Put a little on the sponge and spin the wheel on the stand.. then wipe off with a towel. takes 2 minutes and the soft scrub eats right through the crap that gets on the wheels.

 

Hmm, never tried that. I always use Pledge the lemon scented one :lol Spray on spinning rear wheel and by the time you full circle, ready to wipe off super easy. Just be careful on the front wheel rotors and tires, otherwise clean it off or spray on a terry towel and wipe:jump

I use also on the bike to wipe down completely clean.

Been cleaning rims like this for years, cars too!

ha ok thanks guys. ill probly look into powdercoating them white. i have a custom white paint on my bike already so im not sure which way ill go about. which way did you guys go about it?

 

mayeb ill just do a white pin stripe on the outside of the rim where the raven has the red ill do white. ill post a pic of my bike tell me what you guys think. or ill do the rim white and leave the spokes and hub black? the pic was taken on a cell phone so dont mind the quality. and the front wheel is dirty but the back is clean. didnt get to the front wheel befor a buddy wanted a pic of the bike

 

mine are powder coated white right now, but they will be going back out for airbrushing as well.

make it flow with the rest of the bike. im not one to leave well enough alone... any body can have powder coated white wheels, so i have to have custom painted white wheels.

its an originality thing. i cant stand rocking the same thing someone else has.

 

ya thats how i am thats why im endlessly adding onto my bike. so instead of going solid white. since my bike is custom black and white. im thinking ill just powder coat the rim of the wheel white. and leave the spokes and hub black so i carry the paint theme of the bike onto the wheels

 

thats kinda what i had in mind. im looking at doing the hub black, then fade into candy blue then into the white, and a faint candy blue shadowing around the outter part of the wheel like on my windscreen.

were still trying to narrow it down, we have about 4 solid scheme in the works now so im trying to figure out which will flow together best.

Nice! Are those powder coated or painted? did they pc/paint just the lips or the entire wheel in the two colors?

I had paint but after a year chain lube and brake dust and constant scrubbing took a toll. I have painted white wheels in the past no problem, this time idk. SO I powder coated since it is much more durable and easier to clean. Try to be sure they are cured before you sling chain lube on there it can stain.

 

I just powder-coated my wheels white on my 04. Looks great, and doesnt get TOO dirty, but does require cleaning more often.

 

right DC i was about to say your wheels are always clean when i see them...

 

DC's wheels looks ta-tas...but it was a pain in the ass to get the needle beaings out. LOL. Or maybe it was just the intense heat in my garage in the the middle of the Dallas, TX summers. :fact

One thing I will say, make sure your powder coater tapes off where the bearings go, but also where the rotor bolts go in, AND the surface of the wheel that touches the rotor, around the rotor bolt holes. I had to shave mine by hand after it was done, and it was a BITCH.

Whoever requested the gold wheels pic...mine are going gold this fall with some other parts so I will be sure to add it here to the thread.

 

Having polished rims is even harder upkeep but worth it thinking of painting mine too just cant bring myself to do it.

 

to the op.... its a bit odd, but i think your bike could pull it off.
white in the front black on the back, i dunno, just a thort.

 

they are a bitch to keep clean but oh so worth it!!
