look at the sig... The R1 much like any other 170kg 160ish RWHP machine is no more of a fearsome killer than a goldfish, everyone is too concerned with being scared of it. If you ride the motorcycle with good technique and within your personal ability you will have no problems, but remember, like a gun, if u misuse it there's a possibility u can cause damage to it and/or to yourself.

i am however, of the belief that its not a good learning bike, but that said theres no reason why someone cant.. the stakes are alot higher and theres more opportunity and temptation to ride out of your ability area but bikes dont kill people, people kill people, whether they are car drivers pulling out in front of you or a biker smokin in to a corner running wide and low-siding, alot of mistakes people make whilst riding they would have made no matter what bike they are on, some bikes are more forgiving than others but a sound, mature rider will be fine

ride 'brain infront of bike'. 'brain on bike' is ok but risky, 'brain behind bike' gets people killed and bikes damaged

i did two mos ago and now im buying parts to get it back to normal. i shouldnt have been trying to do stoppies already after two mos of riding though?
good luck? hold on tight cause she gottz balls bigger than mine. i asked the same question when i first got a bike. The forum memebers know whats up?
i love my bike and glad i bought the r1 for sure. I sometimes ask myself maybe should have started out on a smaller bike cause when she is laying on the ground it sucks. Big time. Good a good helmet? you will be needing it. hahahahahahhaahahahha:bandit

There's nothing wrong with it as a started everyone acts like oh crap a R1 but dude you ain't gotta hold it full throttle!! Not that you would being a newbie I don't thing. Look at it like this a R1 is just a R6 at half throttle!!!!! I got 2 friends that started with R1 and one with a Gsxr 1000 and another with a ZX10. They did this cause they couldn't afford to buy a 600 and grow out of it!!! Buy what you want and use common sense!!

An illiterates advice doesn't carry much weight around here BTW.

If you cannot spell "common sense", instead of commen since....you should not even be on a bike.

Obviously you have proven just who the real dumbass is :fact

that's right my bad forgot the spelling bee that i had to win before I could get my license. I try to polish off about 10 pages of websters before I put on my helmet everyday!!! any way you slice it vocabulary isn't going to keep anyone off the asphalt or make them a better rider. The last time I checked this forum was for riders not valedictorians!

I wasn't looking for the error, but when you misspell something that bad, it kinda stands out.

Also, the thread is about starting out on an R1 which you obviously have no need doing :thumbup
