why convert to 520 sprokets on a R1???

my 08 r1 goes up in 1st 2nd and 3rd on straight stock power..why the f*** change it? do you wanna do back flips or what.

520 won't make you do backflips. It's the width of the chain/sprockets. The 520 is a bit thinner of a chain so it's less weight, less expensive, etc. It doesn't change the power or feel of the bike by seat of the pants. I think you're thinking of changing the gearing which can make you do backflips, but you can do that with 530, 525, or 520. that is something completely different.

yea it has nothing to do with gearing its lighter just like magneseum rims. This equates to less rotating mass and less drive train loss so the reduced weight will make your bike dyno with higher numbers and put more power to the ground.

I'd go all out and get the NEW 444 kit if I was you. :)

lol if i go with a 500 chain with PRM will i be able to do 5sec 1/4s??

You'll also be able to go into the future while leaving a cool line of fire that stops abruptly. PRM and a 520 is nothing to play with!! :fact

jj...you might wanna check out some of the other threads on the same topic before you open the "pandoras box" around here....these guys can be brutal! but its nothing personal, just having fun....for the most part!

I live @ 5,000 feet ele and in 15 minutes i can be over 8,000 feet.. " thank god my bike is fuel injected"... now with a 520 conversion and -1 tooth in the front.. my bike will pull almost as hard as it does at sea lvl .. it's titts..:boobies
And at this elevation my bike only stands up in first gear from 8k rpm or higher.. any other gear requires clutch.. So there is just one of the hundreds of reasons guys do a " 520 conversion with sprockets" .. any questions?

Ya, cuz at that level the wateair is so dense you dont need fuel OR spark the sheer mass alone will drive the pistons, all you have to do is open the butterflies. Presto! instant double loop w/mad coolness on the side, phwuuush...:snorkel :sneaky :2bitchsla

i have a better understanding now! my r1 is my 2cnd bike, i had a 03 zx7r which i did the 520 conversion on and i noticed increased bottom end and better on the turn ..all im saying is that my r1 is a F****** beast and im happy the way it is..but yes it does pull up in 3rd..
