Why do cagers freak out?

Do you guys notice that no matter how fast or how slow you go on the highway someone ALWAYS rides our asses?

There was about 7 of us riding down the highway last Sunday. The traffic was light, speed limit is 60. We weren't blocking traffic, and were riding in the middle and right lanes.

A couple of us were riding wheelies, but nothing too ridiculous. Your standard sit down, no nac nacs or anything.

Well...the cagers FREAK out! I had this dumb ass dude in a chevy truck (full size) and a newer Ford Super Crew pass me on THE SHOULDER and swerve at me. I was hanging back, clipping along at 70. Ten MPH over the limit as it was. Then the ****er goes and swerves at another one of us. He's got his approximately 10 year old son in the truck with him, who looks terrified and awed at the same time. By this time we've come up on the dude, and 7 guys in jackets and helmets on bikes is a little intimidating. Words were exchanged and we slacked off and let him go ahead. He said "if you want to play games, we'll play games". WTF does that mean? You're the one passing me on the shoulder, when theres other lanes moving faster than me right over there! :boom He slowed back down and ****ed with us some more so we just fell way back through traffic and let him have his fun with some other cagers.

Why do they freak like they do? What the hell is so scary about driving behind some sport bikes? Why do they think they have to go FASTER than you? I could be doing 90 and they'd get mad, then they get mad when you do 60 too. WTF?

I would of LOVED to have had a gun last weekend. I'd of shot that assholes truck all up. Anybody who takes MY life into their hands deserves a little spray. Especially considering his possibly life changing decision for more than one person probably saved him about a minute in the long run. I'm not violent, and really wouldnt shoot anyone. But for someone to scare me like they did, they deserve to learn not to **** with just anybody.

I don't know.... Something very similar happened to some buddies of mine not too long ago. At least you did the right thing and backed off. Even though there were 7 of you, you are no match for a truck. Shame traffic didn't suddenly stop though as you could have gotten off and beat his ass.

I guess one thing you could have done is get his plate # and phone him into the police. After all, he did try to kill you and you have 7 witnesses....

I had a similar incident recently. There's alot of negativity towards sport bikers, even bikers in general. The media doesn't really help us much either. They publicize all the bad stuff, and don't really give to much attention to the good that we do. I saw a Bank of America commercial that was advertising their new customer security options and they used a motorcyclist as the "bad guy" stealing some lady's purse at an ATM. That sucks...

whats a cager? some1 in a pick up? im not american so i dont know sorry... U every try drive in spain, spanish are so incredible crap at driving, it's like they dont want to see you, the amount of times ive nealy bin ran off the road (on purpose aswell)...

Cagers are people who drive cars and don't recognize that we on motorcycles don't have a cage around us.

Spain is great! I visited Loret Del Mar years ago and fell in love with that place. There is a guy on here screen name sweedie who is moving to spain. You should look him up.

Its getting out of control around here as well. I dont think the cagers really understand the dangers associated with there actions... They just drive like they dont give a f***. I dont think it matters who is right or wrong the bottom line is we (the rider) have much more to lose .. Better to keep a level head and just stay out of the whole road rage sean..

Me and a couple forum members were riding here in Orlando and a guy in a truck tries the same crap. But this was in a friggin traffic jam due to construction and the idiot in the truck was two lanes over and a couple cars back standing outside the truck on his doorsill screaming " Put your f*@ckin visors down." . Now some of you may be unfamiliar with florida heat but at 9pm it's about 85degrees and 100% humidity so it's hot as fawk. When we took off moron gets right behind us . Then we made a detour to avoid the traffic and he gets back behind us. When traffic slowed up in front of a Target parking lot , I parked my bike and got off and went over to the truck. Moron opened the door and talked cash sheot. I told him to step on out if he thought he was a badass and prove it. He said no because I was gonna hit him. After promising that I would'nt ( fingers crossed ) . He told me "Your black ass better close my door." I was like " Nope, get out and close it." He drove off with the door open. ( Scary beotch ) . Moral, most people who talk crap in the car don't mean it they're just acting out. But there are those rare times when you have to call them on it. And when you do make sure you're holding an ace.

Are you REALLY surprised that cagers get freaked out about wheelies on public roads?

They see it as threatening and dangerous and don't want it around them. They reacted badly, but you supplied the stimulus!

Stunting in traffic on public roads will kill our sport. Watch and see.

It sucks, but its the truth.

You don't actually have to BE a danger, but if you/we are PERCEIVED as threatening the soccer moms, then it will be us who suffers...

First off, the general public doesn't understand wheelies, stoppies, or anything else you younger guys perceive as harmless fun! They view it as (dangerous) out of control and endangering yours and their safety/life! Wheelies, be it an inch or 3 feet, is all the same to them. Fact of the matter is that activity is illegal and will get you a ticket! Don't get me wrong here, I've done my share when I was younger and I still do an occasional power wheelie on empty, open roads when know ones around. I save it for the track days now! Just because your riding a bike, don't assume you can just kick someone's ass! You never know who or what your dealing with! I knew this guy I used to race with and it was late at night coming home from a race. Well, to make a long story short, the driver of the truck he was riding in, got into a roadrage incident and stopped! the 2 driver were arguing, nothing physical! The guy I knew was asleep and woke up startled and shot the other guy dead without thinking! Now he's serving 20 yrs. for something very stupid! Was it worth it? I don't think so! That could be you walking up to a truck or car! If it isn't a gun, he just might be a gorilla and pummel you to an inch of your life! I guess I'm just saying to show some intelligence/tolerance when riding guys, and ride safe! Remember guys, sportbikes and motorcyclists in general, are a very small percentage of the vehicles on the roads! Seems to be getting smaller every day! Don't be a casualty thinking you a badass!

I'm not surprised, but why the hell do they react like they do? What do you do if you suppose someone is drunk? BACK OFF. Right? You back off for fear of your safety. I do think that if I saw a guy riding a motorcycle down the highway on one wheel, I would think to myself that that individual had control of his actions and was able to handle himself. I would not attempt to injure this person.

I mean, I understand that the average soccer mom is a do gooder bitch who thinks her shit dont stink. But if its so dangerous, why is the bitch going to get on her cell phone and swerve at riders? THE RIDERS THAT WERE HANGING BACK? Why do they think they have to RETALIATE? Thats what I dont understand.

I can see that wheelies may not be the coolest thing in the world, but Jesus, not all of us have an air strip to go rag our bikes out on. Not all of us have backroads with lush fields of grass on both sides. We've got ditches and driveways.

If not, do you not ride on the street? If you do ride on the street, do you go the speed limit all the time? Do you speed up in turns? Do you think that scares cagers too?? I'm asking everyone. I'm NOT flaming or being a punk. I have respect for people that can ride and aren't afraid to show it.

Should we not enjoy what most of us pay out the ass every month for, just because it makes someone uncomfortable? Should I swerve at cars because they make me uncomfortable? Should I flip off everyone that I dont like? Should I cuss out everyone I see for talking on the phone & driving just because those 3 people before couldnt do it?

I just hate the world sometimes, and I understand that we are being stereotyped...but at the same time its not going to matter what the heck we do. Someone is going to be jealous and talk shit.

That's why you should always carry bb's for the windsheild or little spikes to throw in the road. :lol See this is why we need Rodeo and his big ass Dodge Ram with us. That rarely happens when we have that behind us!

Trainwreck...you're not the sharpest tool in the shed huh?
Now, now. Put away your jump to conclusions mat! :lol

I did mention that I was hanging back. I also mentioned that I was in the right lane.

I'm not a crazy wild man! I ride with some guys who can ride wheelies for MILES. I however, like to wait till I dont have the pressure of cars behind me to ride wheelies. I can, and do. But I dont want to do it when some moron (the ones this post refers to) is going to swerve at me and CAUSE an accident.

Secondly...why do you say that about me? What gave you that perception of me as a rider?

I only ask because I tend to strive to be a very polite and respectable representation of our sport. I wave, I knod at cagers and wave at cagers that give me right of way and see me. I wave at all the bikes on the road, weather it be a Vespa or a Ducati. :hellobye

Just curious.

I can't really wheelie (too old, not enough sportbike experience, whatever), but I enjoy watching a good show in traffic. Whenever I talk about it at work I always get in a big arguement with some folks. They say that people that wheelie in traffic are crazy and whatever...I then tell them that no, they're not crazy, just very skilled riders.

But, you don't have to wheelie to freak out cagers. This Sunday I was out in the backroads and made a 40mph posted turn at a mere 70 or 80mph, no big deal, right...Just as I straightened out an old lady in a car coming toward me jerked her car off the road about 4 feet or so. She kicked up so must dust that I felt bad and eventually turned around and went back to see if she flipped or something. She was nowhere to be found. Oh well...just freaked out seeing a blue bike appear all of a sudden, I guess.

I've had a few days like this, I've threw a battery through a window of a car once, pennies, marbles, I've kicked in a door, punched off a miror, and the best was I got into a nice quality brawl with 2 mexicans at a stoplight coming off a freeway exit, these 2 little punk had no idea what hit them. I had the first one basicly unconscious in the driver side of his car before the passenger could even get out to confront me, when he did, the beatdown arrived. All of this was do to being swerved on and haven my ass ridden on the freeway.

My two cents - the guy in the pickup was scared by all the bikes doing things that looked crazy to him, and his son could see it.

So, his reaction to his fear is anger, and he attacks the motorcyclists who scared him.

I would guess that he was the same kind of mouth-breather with one of those piss-on-Ford/Chevy/Dodge/Mother-in-Law stickers on the rear window.

Now the mother in law part I can deal with... ;-)

Same thing always happens with the group I ride with. My bud is always up- front going 160 + and pissing everyone off. By the time the rest of the group passes the "cagers", they are so pissed they try to run you off the road. I have almost been hit, had gravel thrown up on me and have been flipped off more than once. I usually keep it under 100, but to be passed at that speed, is enough to upset them. Some people just don't like to be passed.

You know what I think it is....I think these ******* guys are jealous that they can't ride a cool bike (actually to scared to ride a bike) and their 6000lb truck gives them a sense of power over you. They use this power to prove their manhood by trying to run you off the road. This "Merc" did the same thing to me the other night. I was tired and just coasting along. I was like WTF was that for.

Woman are generally scared of bikes and panic. They end up making the wrong decision and wammm!
