Then the light turns, and they drive all the way down the road redlined in first gear.

because sometimes its fun to be bloody obnoxious. We ride some of the most
incredible machines available to the public. Why must we be so uptight and proper about it. My R1 didn't come with a manners manual. just my opinion. LOL
I agree, I do it; I dont redline the piss out of it I just love the sound for my own personal enjoyment esp if there's a harley around:finger
You may think its gay but hey the chicks love it:boobies

Jesusssssss, you guys want some damn cheese and crackers with that whinning.....

I didn't buy a sportbike to putt around.... I bought it to drive the piss out of it... And if someone gets annoyed ohhhhhh wellllll I live in L.A., and about 99% of the people here annoy me, so when I'm on my bike it's payback time.....:finger :riding :finger

mkinla--My kind of thinking on this one. I like your attitude about the whole ride game. I'll have to look you up and go for a ride when I come out to Cali.(I'll bring bail money).

I just hate to see a turd reving his bike when it is first started for the day. TWhat bothers me about this is if I go to buy i used bike someday and the guy says "I''l fire it up for ya'" then he starts it and procedes to rev 'er up; that puts extra friction on the internals before the oil starts lubing with full force. I just read in Motorcyclist mag about letting a bike warm up before driving it hard (like reving). They say the oil won't work its way into all the nook and crannies until it is warmer and flows easier.

Perhaps they all have a foul plug and need to do this to keep the engine from dying?

:dunno :crash

I do it to keep my bike from stalling right now....... it's got leakey vavle seals and it's some times like to stall on me..... hell just yesterday i was sitting at a light in N and it just died.... no warning no nothing.... dead..... so i give it a few little turns now and then to keep it alive..... nothing worst then getting cought with traffic behind you cause your bike is dead........ and yes it's getting fixed...... valve job in a few weeks.... then off to the dyno for tuning......... anyways.... just my opion on the matter

I don't rev the hell out of my engine at a stop, but I do tweak on the throttle a little. Most of it is out of habbit, liking the sound of my pipe, and most importantly, letting the rest of the traffic know you are there. If you are going to pass somebody once the light turns green, you don't want some moron who didn't check is rear view, and has the radio blasting, to change lanes on you because he didn't know you were there.

Just yesterday, I'm cruising down a road, and a Dodge truck pulls up on the side of me, and revs his engine...all I could do is laugh!
