Why do kids in crappy economy cars always want to race? They pull up beside me ( while i'm doing 5-10 over the speed limit) stare at me and the bike and make faces and gun their engines. Do people really not understand how serious R1's and other superbikes are? I don't understand why people in new Corvettes are smart enough to leave me alone, but people in slow ton and a half cars with only 150 hp want to try me? (I just let them go by the way, I have nothing to prove by racing them).

I totally ignore them like they aren't even there. They want attention and I don't give it to them. Even performance cars I ingore. I know I can beat them, I'm not wasting my gas to prove it to them. Not at $2.39 a gallon for premium.

how about the people that always want you to wheelie?? It seems they always want you to do it when you are in bumper to bumper traffic.

Yeah wtf, every time I ride on a busy road someone always tells me to pull it up...when I don't they yell, p u s s y. Retards don't know it's a reckless driving ticket if you get caught by the po po.

Ive notice they want to race because they want to watch you blow by them real fast. They know they cant beat you but its a show off kinda thing:rock
you hit the nail on the head!.. thats the main reason why they do it.. i've had many experiences with these ppl and i just had to ask one of em one day and thats what he said.. they just to see how quick we smoke em.

This is exactly right. I myself have a slow 140hp acura and every once in a while mess with guys on bikes because I like to see them get on it having no intention on putting up any sort of fight, its just for the amusement, but on the other hand I have never once had anyone try me when out on the 1

I have an 04 BMW M3 as well as an 04 R1....while in the M3 I get taunts all the time.....some i have to oblige, some are a waste of time.....I ran a Mustang Gt a little while back and enjoyed the run up to 145....at least he had a real car not some anemic 4cyl with a big fart can and primer body panels....those guys are worse than squids......"Tuning by Kmart"......nothin' worse than plastic spinner hub caps and a base so loud the only thing you hear clearly is the body panels rattling. :no

Racing anything on 4 wheels on the R1 is absurd.....there's absolutely no f'ing point.....and It'd be just my luck to get pulled while doing it......:fact

Those people are what we call in california "ricers" but you fail to mention the japanese stickers all over the primor with the home made wings made from tin foil and broom sticks

i usually pull a stand up wheelie past them and they tend to leave me alone at that point. they will try to catch up to give me the thumbs up and then i just smile and shift to third

On the subject of car owners wanting to race....
IMO what it comes down to is that most car owners, even those who have spent $60k plus on a new Monaro [ask an Aussie] really have ABSOLUTELTY NO F..KING IDEA what sort of performance we actually have.
A very quick street car can do 0-60 in, like, 7 secs??
That is quick for a cage but when can do it in a third of that and not have to shift from first.
They just cant get their heads around that

I once had a young co worker start raving on to me about his mates turboed 3.0 lt Nissan powered Holden sedan,
This when I showed up at work on my new 1994 RF900 [fast even now, relatively speaking]
Fastest car in Perth Yada Yada Yada....
He had never been on the back of a bike and knew nothing of them .
So the next day I took him for a spin:finger
We only went about 10km but we hit 220kph about 4 times.
He could see the speedo over my shoulder.
When he got off he was shaking.
I never heard another world from him on how fast his mates car was.
And, yes, I do know it probably wasnt the smartest thing in the world to do, but it sure was fun

This is another reason why i find it better to ride more agressive. Going to a few extremes to keep traffic distant from me whenever i can has cut down or nullified alot of potential enounters like this (a lil lane splitting never hurts anyone when done right..saves gas too).

However when dealing with dopes like that, it's best to just smoke 'em and just scoot out of there. In this day and age of road rage theres no telling if the chump you just embarresed might have a gun or just may fail to use their brakes when they meet you at the next light. Besides if a cop sees this "Race" going on they'll most likely go after the car (easier catch in all ways). A riders best defense is their offense so disappearing compltely is the best goal to acheive.

As for the weenie azz twats who motion or yell for you to do a wheelie with a SUV in front of you and a cop not too far behind while approaching a potenially oil spotted intersection, god just grab a pair, pull in your clutch and yell to them a nice healthy "**** YOU" or "GO TO HELL!!". Unless they were raised by welfare mooching imbreds with half a cockroaches brain, they should catch on eventaully that we sportbikers are not "Rolling entertainment". If not then no biggie as Darwin has shown Stupidty Takes care of it's own eventually. :D
