Well, I sure as hell aint selling my 04 R1, I think she's the greatest, and damn purty too!

 

I seem to notice a lot of people getting rid of their 04' r1s. Why? I am interested in buying one cause I wrecked my 03'. Should I just look for another 03?

Several of the guys selling theirs have said it was for finanical reasons. Or they are having a child. Or their wife insists.

No matter the reason, there are used '04s out there. But if they are in good shape I don't imagine they'll be on the market for long. It is probably easier to find a good used '03 -- if for no other reason than many of them were unloaded this year to be replaced by '04s.

how does the 04' wheelie. I could power up my 03 at 140mph and do a stand up. How do the 04's compare??

the O4' can do all the wheelies you like and out handle your old 03' in stock form.

The 04's though do have a more top-end related power band then the older models.

Buy the bike its worth every penny.

It's for those 3 reasons i'm so glad to be single with no Brats to hold me back. My Money. My Bike. My Business PERIOD. Love and marriage can wait till i'm 50 or dead. :lol :riding

Good luck and best wishes to those who had to make that choice. Just for me The Loners Path looks brighter every day. Really itching to see what the '05 R1 Colors are although a used '04 may be nice with more $$$ for aftermarket. :bow

 

i know a couple of guys here locally that were talking about selling there 04's only because they were disappointed in the power delivery. One guy even dropped a tooth on the front sprocket and still doesnt care for it. although neither of them have gotten serious enough to talk price.

 

Boy I still like my 01 with the hight mount and Dessault undertail. Nice clean and neat. I think it looks better then to 04 bulky undertail... But thats probably just because i can't afford an 04 or the mods required to make it look better.

 

I will always ride. and 1 day I 2 will be one of those old fellas on a cruiser...
