Bike got hit in a parking lot, supposedly was hit by a smart car. All the fairings are ****ed, the headlight mounts are ****ed and the right side exhaust is bent into the rear plastics. That and scuff marks on the smart car that just so happen to be where my bike would have been and happens to be the same color..

Claim is already filed through my insurance co. At home drinking the morning away... **** my life..... :flush:

I made out good with Geico after my Ducati fell over in my driveway. I think the adjuster was a bit shady and wanted to hook up the dealership because they said I needed two new exhaust pipes but those were the first things I looked at after I picked the bike up and they were fine. Each pipe cost $1700 from Ducati. They got me Termi slip ons instead, Pazzo levers, covered my $500 deductible, and I got A little over $300 in cash back. Then I got my original pipes back (race baffled) and then sold the Termis for $1500. Basically my bike fell over, and I got free levers and made $1800 and my bike got fixed.

Cops are saying they can't confirm that she actually hit my bike. But there being no witnesses and no cameras I'm pretty sure I'm ****ed.. Either way my insurance co. is looking into it and with insurance companies being insurance companies I'm sure mine will do everything they can to get the other to pay out.

Just hoping they don't total it, seems like the price of parts has gone up recently..

That happened to my car a few years ago got hit in a hospital parking lot and the police wouldnt do any thing i had to pay my insurance deductable. If your bikes frame is bent or dented in any way they will prob total it. Sucks man

Parking lot? You couldn't find a sidewalk anywhere?
When and where was it hit? Sounds DUI/blue hair-ish

update, insurance is saying since there is no police report and no witnesses that I am screwed. Now they are going to tow it to a shop to get the estimate and get it adjusted tomorrow. Now the questions, if I get the estimate at the shop am I forced to have it done by this shop or a shop period? as I don't trust any local shops and the nearest one I do trust is about an hour away, assuming it HAS to be fixed at a shop..

insurance only pays for the damage to the bike minus the deductible. If the estimate is too high, they'll send their own adjuster out. Once you get the cash if you're the lienholder, you can do whatever you want with it.

hmm, guess I'll see what the adjuster says tomorrow. I have a feeling they will total it if they try to get an estimate for ALL of the damage to it though.

Here's a list of everything that would need replaced from just this.

Left and right side fairings
upper fairing (around the headlights)
windshield
headlight/fairing bracket/stay
rear tail fairings (upper and lower)
right side exhaust can
Right side heat shields (from the cat up to the can)
complete lower fairings
Air guide (sits in front of the header mounting to the side and lower fairing)
Clutch pivot shield thingy
overflow tank

Here's the other damage.

small dent in the gas tank
headlights are sand blasted to hell
plus various new scratches on the swing arm and tank.

I am so glad I have the stock turn signals though, they have taken so much of the damage away from the fairings..

When I crashed my 06 in 08 my bike KBB value was roughly $8500 my insurance estimate was $6700. All fairings, swingarm, forks, one headlight, gas tank, both seats...etc and all aftermarket parts

Bike wasn't totaled, statefarm cut me a check no questions asked.....they just proceeded to give me the big sausage for 3 years after that

Mt father-in-law backed into my 01 a few weeks ago. cracked the upper, left mid, tail, bent the left rearset, and bent the clutch lever. I have GEICO and they sent their adjuster out. He came up with $2405 and forgot to put the tail section on the estimate. Looks like I am going to be ordering a whole bunch of parts now. :)

So the insurance adjuster came to the shop where it was towed and took pics and noted damage. her words "they will probably total it" so now I'm kind of on the fence about it, a part of me really wants to keep it, but the other part of me wants to just let insurance haul it off so I can use the rest of the money to finish another vehicle project.

I dunno......:snorkel

Really? Totaled? Thats ridiculous! My claim was 80% value of my bike and it wasn't totaled. I would've just fixed that out of pocket honestly man, you could probably find parts you need on here and fix it piece by piece but whatever works for you man....when they total it find out how much they want for a buy back and let me know, I want a track bike lol
