it must be done by a yamaha certified maintance person... so i believe it would void the warrenty... but im not 100% sure

 

I sure Hope not cuz I do my own oil changes!

 

im in new zealand but my manual says you can do it your self but if something goes wrong from your workmanship it wont be covered, i do mine. just get the right oil, and do everything correct and it shouldnt be a problem.
eg. if the motor craps out but the oil level is right, they cant really blame you can they.

 

as long as you manage to put oil back in the bike and can figure out to put the filter back on your covered...if you screw either part up, your fvcked

 

I asked the guy at the dealership before I actually did it and he said it wouldn't as long as I kept my receipts.

 

by law you can do it... without any warranty problems...
