Signwriters like a hard copy example to scan into their computers. All the sponsor logos on this fairing were scanned from magazine adverts or stickers. I told them what length and colour I wanted, they cut them from vinyl for me.
The missing part of this process is that they turn those scans into vector artwork to be able to get the quality they get, no matter what size you ask for.

To the OP, there is probably not an exact font for the Yamaha logo. Typically, companies like that will modify an existing font to make it "their own" or create one altogether. It's almost a guarantee they don't let the font out of their control.

What Kmac said...
The font is probably called YAMAHA... LOL!
There may be a standard font close, like I've seen on alot of ebay vinyl stickers, but they are not a perfect match.

Most ebay stickers use the wrong M for the logo. Yamaha Motors has the middle of the M go all the way to the bottom of the letter.

From the Yamaha corporate website:
"Yamaha Corporation uses a Yamaha Logomark with the tips of the tuning forks contained within a circle. and an "M" with a middle column shorter than the outer legs, and features "YAMAHA" printed in an asymmetric font. The logo of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. is printed in a symmetrical font and uses red as its corporate color, while Yamaha Corporation uses violet."
