Hey guys,

A quick question. Has anyone seen or know where I can get the ignition key that is shown in this pic? I've never seen this one before. Thanks!

I see, I see. Considering I don't have a single canadian friend, does anyone know of a website where I can order this key from?

Also, what's this immobilizer? Was there a factory alarm option?

The immobilizer is not on the US bikes... so don't worry about it. No there was not a factory alarm option. :fact

The key is electroniallylinked to the immobilizer. You can't just cut a key and use it. The red key is the coding key, and if you lose this one then you can't recode a new black key to suit your bike. Apparently it's a couple of grand to replace the red key and required equipment to get it all going again. Just what I've heard anyway. It's all about security. You can download the euro manual from the yamaha euro website and read all about it from there. I've got a copy here of he '06 manual but can't figure out how to cut the text. Maybe it's got security on it?

Manual states "if the code re-registering key is lost (the one with the red bow), registering new codes in the standard keys is impossible. The standard keys can still be used to start the vehicle, however if code re-registering is required (i.e if a new standard key is made or all the keys are lost) the entire immobilizer system must be replaced"

Is Sarah still getting them for us? I haven't seen her post in a while.

Sarah told me she doesn't get on the forum too much anymore. She used to get all those keys for everyone. They look cool, but don't do anything to make it faster, so I never ordered one. They are 40 buck or so aren't they? My Duc came with a key like that.

you mean a key like this?

I got mine from a member in Canada, but I don't think they do it anymore. Try and find someone from Canada or baisicly anywhere else other than USA. They will be able to get you a blank from their dealership.

What would it take to get an immobilizer (and install it) and the keys? Would be a nice little piece of security (or at least aggravate the thief a little bit more).

Okay, I just got off the phone with a dealer here. A blank Black Key (Imoblizer enabled) will be 1,885 Yen. So about $18, and I can't imagine shipping to be more than $5 or $6.

So thats $24 and paying by paypal add 3% (thats paypal not me) Come to $24.72 so we will say $25 a key shipped make it easy.

I don't want to make a bunch of one and twos orders so lets say a cut off of July 21. Sound Good?

PM me if intrested.

I know this should probably be in a new thread but for those of you who were able to get a hold of a dealer to get the key, can you guys check if the dealer can order these euro-spec lanyards too (part# YMD-10011-20-00 and YMD-41017-00-00)? Thanks!

Right now I have 4 for keys - do not fret that I have not returned your PMs, I don't want to have you paypal me the money, and then feel like I am sitting on it, I will PM on or about 20-21 July with my address.

And I will have to call on the lanyards... Thanks for the part number, Makes things easy, as I don't speak Japanese all that well and every phone call is a lesson...

I've got sol but I'm not a Soldier.

I called about the lanyards, they said that they could not order, but we had a bit of a disconnect, so I am not sure if they understood... I will go in this afternoon with pictures and see if we can find them..

Keys so far:

aspenboarder
huanab
TWISTM
afsflory
FLR1
Rishee x2
pv107 x2
CL'SR1
mikeylikesit

And I forgot to ask about the red key, I will when I go in tonight...

Well Boys and Girls, got a little bad news...

I just got back from the dealer...
They can order Lanyards, though they look nothing like those, they look a little cheep to be frank, you know the kind they give a way at events... Sorry bout that...

And the red key, they can order, but it is apart of some special master key set ups something or other... and is roughly $2800... So black it is...

god you usa boys n girls miss out on the good shizzle. first i heard about the lag issue the 07 R1 had there and now you dont even get the nice keys. also no immoboliser. what's next, you dont' get DNA Datadot system standard on your motorcycles?

Also of note, Yamaha does sell an upgrade on their site here in Australia to upgrade the immoboliser to a full in house alarm unit. me i think it is gay to have the bike go beep beep everytime i need to get on and ride. :)

I sent a PM, but just in case, I'd like a key too. That sucks about the red key, would have gone great with my candy red 08. :rock
