They say "Does your extended warranty cover your internal engine parts should an issue arise from faulty oil?" so obviously nothing wear and tear...well isn't everything wear and tear on an engine short of the oil sludeging up and causing a problem within its service interval. I'm curious what exactly is covered.

Yeah it is one of those things where they give you a "free benefit" when you buy their products. Basically, Yamaha is saying buy our oil and filters, and if, before 20 years or 100,000 miles our oil causes your engine to fail, you are covered. So all Yamaha has to do is say, well, it wasn't our oil in your bike that caused the problem. Sorry, coverage denied. lol

That's the big one I'm curious on, it might be almost worth it if that was the case.

Here in Canukistan Rotella T6 cost me 140 or something for a 19 liter\5 gallon bucket and under 4 bucks a filter (hastings).

Yamahalube Id guess is 12-16 bucks a bottle and filters id guess are 12-15 all depending on your shop and all that. (I might be off by a bit, the only motorcycle oil price I ever look at is Motul and then I cry).

My rough estimate is 2k in cost for oil changes at 5000km with Yamalube @15 a bottle and filters @15 a filter for 16000km\100k miles and around half of that if you go with old Rotella. Now If i were to use Yamahalube already or motul or something other than rotella i think it would most defiantly be worth your while, assuming they actually paid out.

It comes down to, how much is that warranty worth to you...well that and how bloody common are spun bearings and other things that are covered ;)
