Yec Reflashed ECU

I just got a ecu that was reflashed to yec specs! Works perfectly. The best part is the guy that does them offers them in 2 versions... One that is identical to the YEC and one that offers everything the YEC does but allows you to keep the function of all the lights and standard gauge setup. The only thing that stops working is the kickstand saftey switch (I just removed it) and the headlights come on as soon as you turn the key on rather than after you start the bike.

The installation was really easy too. I just had to unplug 3 wires from the main harness and connect the 2 wires to the harness for the programing wire and hook up a ground to the battery and thats it.

I can alreadsy tell a big difference at low rpms. This is one of the best things I bought for my bike. I love it! It makes the R1 like its supposed to be. It still needs to be tunned really badly though. I'm gonna get it to the dyno in the next couple weeks.

Anyone who wants one let me know. I'll give you the email address to get ahold of the guy.

I paid $679 for the ecu and the programing cable. I sent my stock ecu back to him. He gaurentees his ecu that if you don't like it send it back and he'll give your money and ecu back. You can get it without sending your ecu for $749 with the cable.

I was in contact with this guy on ebay, seems like a good guy. I just can't believe he charges that much for what little time it takes to reflash an ecu, kind of a rip off IMO. If he charged somewhere like $200 he would have a lot more business.

You get the new ecu pre-programmed, or you do it yourself? Why connect the 'programming wire'?

You get a ecu that is already programmed. The cable is so you can hook your computer to it and change settings in the computer. Like idle speed, ignition timing, 2 different fuel maps, engine braking canceling, throttle opening, quiuck shifter timing, ram air map correction, and mayber some more stuff I can't remember.

The cost is so high because it is a YEC clone and it comes with thier tuning software. And he is the only one I know of that can retain the stock function of the dash and gauges if you want to.

I cant seem to understand how limited bikes have it when it comes to tuning. Seems like only piggy-back computers ( PC, Bazzas) have a hold on the motorcycle tuning market. Why cant it be more like cars? Its the same ECU, same DOHC 4 banger like most imports. Till this day I have personally Flashed my Evo IX ECU a least 300 times, and all it takes is a cable and a laptop. Thats why I see guys like this Ebay guy charging so much for a Flash. I charge my customers $225 for a road tune and Flash, and I see that as a fair price for bikes as well.

I fully agree, i do LSX model cars and trucks and have done thousands. We should be able to do the same for bikes, wish i had the know how to write the software myself.

subscribed... let me know when you guys crack this and my ECU will be one of your first!!! That guy is seriously over-charging. I will also see if I can get some computer nerd friends to crack the programming. Gotta love that I was a Computer Engineering student at one time. Then figured out they weren't cool and don't do anything fun. I wouldn't be allowed to own my R1 if I would have finished my degree. Instead the Marine Corps was for me and electronics there.

Im going to post this on Evom and see what the ultra smart people over there think. I dont think the problem is gunna be cracking the ECU itself, its more of finding a program to allow the flashing itself. For the Evo community we have a FREE program called EcuFlash that we have all been using for years now, combine that with the Logging software (one time $20 purchase) DataLoggLab and tuning is a snap. I would really like to know what software that Ebay guy is using to flash the ECU. But dont forget that we need to be able to LOGG the bike as well inorder for all of this to work. But I did notice that for the PC V you can actually hook up a Wideband to it now, to that takes care of that

Does this guy give you the software to program the ECU with the reflashed ECU as well. What does his stock setup come like. Does he set any of the values.

You still have your fans and speedo and tach working right?

Is the program pretty easy to use as far as setting up the pit speeds and engine braking.Does that same program allow fuel mapping when on a dyno, or do you need a pcv bazzaz zfi for that?

thanks for any help man.

can i get his email too.

Yes the software comes wityh it. It comes pretty much with a zero map. You have to turn off the quickshifter to keep your bike from cutting out at the programmed rpm for the shift. I have a pc3 and igntion module stacked on top of the ecu because the fuel and ignition mapping has more adjustability then the YEC ecu and I already had them... so why not still use them. If I didn't have them I wouldn't have bought them to use with along with the ecu. It offers plenty of adjustment I think.

Yes the fans and everything still work just as It has the stock ecu. Only difference is the kickstand saftey switch will no longer work and the headlights turn on when you turn the key on instead of when the engine starts. You do have to ask him to program it that like that though because they come as a YEC clone where the speedo turns to a temp gauge and the odo is an hour meter or something... I just know you lose the speedo If you don't ask him to retain the stock gauge functions.

Yes the program is easy to use. Similar to PC3 software just not as flashy and more purposeful. And it does allow for fuel mapping on a dyno... you just need to bring a copy of the software with you to the dyno so the operator can change settings. So you don't need a PC3 to make fuel changes.

Hope this answers your questions. If you want to know anything else just ask.

do you have his contact info. I might be interested in this.

Also were you able to verify that this ecu reflash does in fact get rid of the 80 percent throttle restriction, and allow full 100 percent throttle at higher revs. Did you dyno tune it yet too?

kick stand and lights dont matter to me the bike doesnt have them anymore.

Yeah it gives 100% throttle when you want it unless you program it to do otherwise. No I haven't tuned it yet. I'm saving up some cash and wanted to wait till after biketoberfest to get it done.

I hope you give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

want to send me that software? I would love to look at it. :)

How long did this take. I assume just a few days ? Also can you pm me contact info.

Well you have to Logg the bike first on a Dyno (eg. Air/Fuel ratios, Knock....) then you can adjust those settings with the software and FLASH the new map onto the ECU. Basically adjusting the ECU to take into consideration the Mods that you have done to it
