I recently traded in my gixxer 750 for an 03 R1. I know that the yoshimura was good for my gixxer. What do you guys think about getting a Yosh tri-oval with the duplex headers on my R1?

yosh is real nice, a friend has one and really likes it

Hindle for money, Arata for looks

yosh isnt bad but for great performance on the R1 that is cheap I would go with a full Hindle system...a full system will only run you 570ish dollars and they are very nice.....for superior quality I would look more toward an Akrapovic Evolution System ($1500.00) or Arata ($990.00)

for websites that carry these I would look at
www.kneedraggers.com or www.hpeonline.com

Quick question, if I buy a yosh slip on, and later want the entire system, will the slip on still work, or is it useless?
Will not work bud. The factory header collector is smaller that the Duplex header. You have to go full or nothing if you plan on using the duplex headers. Just go slip on, the performance gains from my full duplex system weren't enough for themoney, time and hassles of the extra few ponies. Just my .02

I think the Yosh Tri-Oval full system was a nice choice. I personaly got that system for my 2000 R1 ( Titanium Highmount dual outlet) this system realy compliments the lines of the R1 and has a sweet sound when on the gas. Along with this system I'm using Yoshimura's MJN Jet kit, Attack Performance Ram Air Box setup and 45 tooth sprocket and DID gold race chain.

I just installed my Carbon Fiber Yosh TRS last night and love it. It's not too loud.. and it looks great!!

I agree with Foozed!
Remember it's not really loud, when I installed mine
back in 1999 I was actually very surprised at how
quiet it was.
The guys I ride with tell me that it sounds great once
I open her up!

Here's a picture:

I was told that Yoshi makes a 4-1 exhaust, does anyone know anything about this?

running a rs-3 yosh slip on on 03 r1. definetly like the sound and noticed better performance. i think for the street you cant beat the value. also r1 has the exup valve so be careful with a full system. it may do you more harm $$ than good. a simple slip on is all you really need in my opinion unless you are going to the track.. also check out micron & m4

Please explain how a full system can do more "harm" than good for street riding? I recently purchased an Arata full system, and I honestly beleive that is the BEST mod that I have installed thus far!!
Many people complain about the loss of the EXUP and low-end loss of power, but I don't notice much of a difference, if any difference at all.
From 5k-6k to redline, you won't find anyone here who regrets going full system....

I have a full Yosh RS-3 on the R6 and a Full Hindle Race on the R1. Do I notice a loss of low end power? No. Do my bikes sound and perform much better? Yes. I wouldn't waste my time with a slip on unless all you want is the look. Only a BlackWidow comes close and they are so expensive you might as well get a full of something else.
