This is a photo from my Yoshimura Tri Oval full race exhaust system weld seam...Have you ever seen better weld seam quality ? What kind of welds you have in other exhaust systems ? Acrapovic ?

While that is excellent work (probably done by machine), I have seen similar or better quality done by hand. I worked at Penske Racing...actually Penske-Kranefuss Racing at the time (Winston Cup, 12 car) for five years, and now I work for Falcon Cars (one of three chassis manufacturers for the IRL). The fabricators at those shops are incredible...they're true artists. They criticized the welds on the frame of my Monster 900 a couple years back...very picky.

Yoshi

I've owned 3 Yoshi systems (1 full and 2 slip-on) There fit, finish and attention to quality are second to none for the price they command. I have a MiG hi-pipe (carbon) on the 01R1 and it is a little less "sweet" in all the categories, but a good all around pipe. Next bike, I will go back to Yoshimura... :thumbup

I had a full RS-3 on my CBR 600 F4 and was very pleased with it.

But for the R1 I chose the Akrapovic beacause it goes with Yamaha.

Hmmm... I used to have the Yosh Carbon Tri-Oval for my last year's GSX-R750. Now I've the Akra for my R1. Honestly I still have to say the Akra's quality and welding is better. Even my friends who have seen both of my pipes said the same thing. The only thing they prefer the Yosh over my Akra was the sound. Maybe because of the EXUP on the R1. Anyway, here is a pic of an Akra titanium end cap, you'll know why I said it's better than Yosh. Look at the welding, they did it so well that you can't even see it... but on the Yosh you can see the actual welding from the outside of the end cap! :yesnod

Holy Fuk......You guys (kids) cant be serious.

"My welds are better than your welds" ?????????????

Is that what we are reduced to? Bragging about welds? I could understand if YOU actually welded it...BUT YOU DIDN'T.
Cock fights...first the GIXXER 1K war, than the Chicken Strip war...now weld wars?
What are the cold winter months gonna bring to threads? I cant wait.:lol :lol
You guys kill me:makeout

If clean welds are your thing then you're gonna' want to dump your R1 and get the new one with only 2 of 'em...

I keep looking at the pics of the R6 swingarm and daydreaming about what bikes will be in our mits down the road.

Sorry if looking at the build quailty of a pipe insulted you.
You prefer the stainless ones where the welds are polished off because they are so bad?
The build quality is usally in line with the quality of the company making them, it shows they care about their product, not how many they sell or that they are the first ones out with an exhaust. If a company cannot be bothered to spend the money on quality people to build the pipes, do you think they spend it on R and D or people you can call who know what they are talking about, or advertizing?

cool weld and pipe

Thanks guys...got some good comments...For me the quality is a must...I have wasted the very hard earned money...

Yes the pipe is made from very thin stainless steel, but the weld is not polished...

Very nice pictures of good workmanship in this thread.

When I buy something for my bike, it is 4 things I consider:

1 - Performance
2 - Quality
3 - Look
4 - Price

Depending on what sort of item it is, the priority on the list may vary.

I have had Yosh trioval ti slip-on on my two R1's, and I have not been dissapointed. But there are other brands that I am sure is equally good. Just look at Dan Kyles pictures....

Then again - there are some bad ones out there as well.....but why choose them?
