I don't think I've ever heard somebody on this forum bash a 'busa.

Maybe state facts like they're heavy and long compared to sportbikes like the Gix, R1, etc, but not bash.

I still want a copper one.
I fired up my 99 copper last night night for the first time since my August vacation....some FN A-holes in Kansas vandalized it and I had to 'limp' it home. Still did not take it out for a ride yet.

It has over 50,000 on the clock (miles not KM's)

I like Busas, would make an awesome drag bike!

I love just about anything on two wheels. My tastes are a bit eclectic. Aprilla RST, Beemer GS, Buell XB12, Ducati Monster, Guzzi Griso, HD V-Rod, Honda ST, Kawi 636, KTM Adventure, Suzuki SV, Triumph ST3, Vespa, Victory 8Ball, Ural Trike, Yamaha Warrior - these are a few of the new bikes that would be in the garage if my lottery #'s came in. I'd even get that pan bobber I've always wanted. JAY LENO has a jet bike, mang, that's cool.

about the only ugly bike I can think of...

This thread caught my eye as I've been trying to decide whether to buy an '04 R1 or an '05 Busa for about two weeks. I've visited the local Yamaha dealer and sat on a Raven they have on the floor about five different times. The guys there laugh when they see me. The Busa feels more comforatble to me but the R1's handling ability is what lures me there. The Busa's torque is appealing, obviously, as well. I've ridden for about twenty five years, presently I ride an '02 FZ1 when solo and an '03 FJR when my wife tags along. I've decided to replace the FZ1 with something a little sportier. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance..... this seems like a cool forum :)

R1. You get the speed and the handling. No one needs the power of a busa. What would be the advantage of getting a busa over the R1 be? Is the R1 too slow? :lol With the busa you get more speed, not so great cornering ability. With the R1 you get good cornering ability and speed. I guess if you only care about power/speed and not so much about handling, go for the busa. Just my opinion..

Sorry man I just couldn't help it.

Vote for R1 to ride. Something to tote the old lady around on. Busa.

I'm a little guy (5'9"/165#) so I would look kinda stupid on a Busa, but I still think they're pretty cool. I have a riding buddy that has an '03, the copper one, which is kinda ironic since he's a cop. It's fast, but he can't keep up in the few curves we have down here. In the straights he can show me his taillights, but he has to work for it, it doesn't come easily. Overall, I would take a Busa, but not over an R1.

Have you spent any lengthy seat time on one?

The Busa will corner very well considering its size and 58.5" wheelbase. Can it compete with a R1 or any pure sport bike with equally skilled riders in the twisties? Of course not.....

Since you have an FJR, I'd say get the R1.
