This is a top end run, I was wondering wich one would actually win the showdown.

Within 2 weeks I'll test my mighty One 07 model against the 2008 CBR1000RR

My bike is completely stock, BMC filter and that's it!

The CBR has BMC filter, a leo vince slip on and the rear sprocket is -2 it's down to 40 teeth. No big deal but I was told it could reach 300km/h on the GPS

We will start the "race" 2nd gear, won't be below 9000rpm on the One...

I will update on this head on...but for now I want your opinion and experience.

You're probably losing power with the BMC filter especially since your bike is bone stock with the exception of it. I'd change back to stock ASAP.

he may not beat you (better rider) but with equal riders, his bike is going to be quicker w/ his gearing change not to mention, the CBR is lighter and much stronger in the midrange. Advantage CBR.

You may run out of room to catch him even though the R1 probably has more steam up top.

Dude you never know until you go out and race. My 05 has ran down down almost every bike down the straights of every track I've been on. Even other 04-06 R1's it just blows by them. It's bone stock and I passed a 06 R1 with almost everything he could have done to it besides engine work. I shift with no clutch and just barely blip the throttle and keep that thing pinned 100% tucked down with my chin on the tank I think that has a lot to do with it. I'm talking coming out of corners at the same speed as the other bikes too. My buddy with a 07rr was so pissed at me. I blew the last corner coming onto the straight missed a downshift went wide almost into the grass and started out in 3rd instead of 2nd and still passed him a good 20mph faster then him halfway down the straight and pulled 5 bike lengths on him lol

go race let us know.

Well I'm no easy prey and I'm not dumb enough to challenge the CBR1000RR in midrange...

I shift clutchless, it's faster this way. We are not going to start at a real highspeed, so I can start 2nd gear reving pratically 9000rpm, the One will start to really kick in at those revs...those last 3k rpm on the R1 are insane, it hungers for victory!

Last weekend tested against a CBR1000RR 2006/2007 and it didn't stand a chance against the R1. I did a pre-race against the 2008 he opened the throttle first than me and was already 1 bike ahead of me, I almost won but we did not shift to 6th gear, only got to 5th gear but I was catchin up, however it was no real "race".

I really need to jump to the front right at start, I'm considering even 1st gear but I'll have to check if I can keep its nose down.

If it will flow more air, then it will make more power. Now how different engines react to the extra airflow, is a different story.

It depends on the fuel & timing maps and how airflow is measured on the engine which will effect if it will make more power or not. The extra airflow that is metered effects the injector pulse width and load. You also have to remember that whatever is used to measure airflow, is only scaled to a certain range. If it had proper maps on the ecu, then it would just hit a higher load cell that has more fuel, which will increase the injector pulse width.

It's hard for me to say because I haven't seen the R1's stock fuel map, but like most factory maps, they are rich to be on the safe side, and very blocky. So it might hit a higher load cell, but still have the same pulse width as the lower load cell, which will cause it to run leaner(more power, to an extent).

Lost of people see mixed results, and the main deciding factor is the tune. So stick with the stock filter if you only have little mods such as exhaust, FailCommander, etc.

Well is it worth the extra money to know before-hand that you will get mixed results? This meaning if you gain power it will be very minor and there are good chances that you will lose power... I think that's what a lot of people need to look at here.
