Horsepower smorsepower! Change the gearing on a 600 a teeny weeny bit and nothing else will be faster on the street! C'mon...aske me how I know that!

Besides...at the track....one day at Barber this summer...the fastest kid there...14 years old...was on a 125cc two-stroke Aprilia purch. from Italy! The kid had won every race entered in his region in Texas!

HP is soooooooooo over rated! BLING......BLING!

So a geared up 600RR is faster than a literbike on the street? so what?

Horsepower does matter.. Your boy on the 125 was faster than who? Some club racers and trackday guys? Let me ask you this, who sets faster lap times? Guys on the 125cc, 250cc, or literbikes (MOTOGP). I think what you are trying to say is this kid on the 125 was a great rider, which is probably true. But if horsepower didnt matter then why do we have different classes of racing? Or why dont we just let any size CC bike race against each other?

at some tracks a small bike is as good or better than a bike bike. I there aren't big straights then all you do on a big bike is try not to spin the rear too much while the small bike is on the gas and gone.
At Willow track a few years back Vicky jackson Bell was doing 1:25s on a 125 when only a few were going better, and I mean few! It's billed as the fastest track in the west. She never slowed down like the big bikes had to and never went as fast down the straights so braking becomes less of an issue.
When the 500s were still in use I remember Kato being fast enough to be on the front row of 500 race with his 250 pole.
it's a different skill to ride each class of bike and it's easy to see when someone like Chandler, Duhamel, Fogerty, Russell doesn't make it GP but can rule in Superbike.

Ummmmm.....you got off the subject!:yesnod

I rode a R1 in advanced class @ two dozen track days for the last three years. Superbikes resemble nothing of a street bike..so I will not include any remarks about that in this post. Now I own a late model 600cc bike and have ridden it a few times on track and street. There just is no use for 186hp anywhere near the damn road. If anyone rides the bikes....as much as I have...my bro owns a RC51...ridden that on track and street..have owned Aprilia Futura and others as well...on the street I said...not racing here....street and track day apps. there is limited use for...again...I think it was listed as 186hp!!!

Furthermore, for the :bs wise one that thinks I don't know what I am talking about....I will tell this story again. I went to Star school at Barber this summer. Jason Pridmore was there...and he told everyone that his bike scares him to this day. The one mistake people make most often in his eyes was buying too much bike!!!!!!! That my friends...was my point! Don't tell me he is clueless too!?

Peace!:butt

last i heard the record at jennings gp track in north florida was set by an aprilia rs250. non-production race bikes shouldn't even be in this conversation, they are in a world of their own. when it comes to what we can buy i got my money on the smaller bikes everytime unless it is at the dragstrip.

The answer depends on the track.

One of my track buds with an R6 has been beating me good at VIR south so when we went to Carolina Motorsports Park a couple of weeks ago he was talking smack about serving me some stuffing :lol but with 3 small straights I was killing him . So I would agree it depends on the track .

Well Will,

Let's just put it this way....until I see a dyno sheet on the bikes performance I, like a lot of other people, will take it all as hype. I must say however I really like the way the zx-10 looks!

Why not? Willow is a track simular to jennings and the master of the 250 (US) couldn't put down a faster lap than the 1000s, three to be exact and one an R-1 with a seasoned citizen. At most of the national tracks the 250s were slower than the 600s by one to three seconds.
my point is a bike is a bike and some riders are faster on small nimble and some like the brute power and can afford the tires.
