You will probably see the ZX7 eliminated as Kawi will more than likely release a ZX10 with the Gixxer 1000 motor in it. The rumours have been flying for awhile now. The need to get into the Superbike racing catagory full force.

I read today that in 2004 Kawasaki France will be running a ZX10 in the SBK Championship, Honda will be running two teams (works team and castrol honda uk) with the new RCB1000 based on the RCV211 GP bike, Suzuki will be campaining the Gixxer 1000,Aprillia should be back, MV Augusta should come in with their F4 1000cc and wait for it and I quote "Yamaha is due to return to SBK running ram-air and a host of carry over parts from the YZR-M1:rock :rock :rock

These are the plans to revitalize the SBK championship which allows Jap bikes to compete without air box restrictors.

If this is true bring on 2004:jump

The ZX-10 will NOT have a GSX-R1000 motor in it. Please note that the ZX-6RR does NOT have a GSX-R600 motor in it.

Kawasaki and Suzuki will not be sharing engines our chassis in the sportbike category.

The 750 inline fours are dead. 1000cc inline fours and V-4's (or is Honda going to do a V-5?) will soon rule the superbike world.

The AMA Superstock class is the only 750 class left and it is for near stock bikes.

In some ways, I still think the 7r is the toughest looking bike around. Those dual ram airs, dual headlights, etc... I started to get dissapointed that the gsxr was updating while the zx7 stayed the EXACT same as it was in 96- not even a weight loss, HP gain, fuel injection, or some improvement. You realize how much profit they are raking in with every zx7r they sell- the research and tooling it took to begin this bike has probably long been paid for due to the long production run. I really held off waiting for a new model. I finally abandoned the green team. Here is my highly modded baby:

How does a ZX7r go compared to an R1 - realistically please.
It doesn't......

It has 117 HP and it weigh over 500 lbs.

The reach to the bars is looooong.

It isn't nimble at which is not surprise given the weight.

The bike is an 8 year old design and it shows.

No more ZX7

Kawasaki has decided to quit making the ZX7. It is a great handling bike that became down on horsepower and heavier over the years. I have owned an '89 ZX7, '92 ZX7, '95 ZX7, and '96 ZX7R. They were all great bikes, I put a lot of work into the "96 and it would smoke older Gixxer 750's but would barely hang with the new ones. It has always been one of the better looking bikes from Japan. Unfortunately Kawasaki has been directing their efforts to some sort of 900 CC or 1000 CC replacement for their superbike platform. I personally think they should build a Raptor from the factory. I rode a Muzzy Raptor a few years back and it was a completely different machine, that bike haulled ass and handled great!
