I've been having an issue with the new lady and I wanted to see what you vets think the problem may be.
The other week I was riding home from campus when the R1 started shutting off randomly... it seemed to happen most often at stops... There is no error message and the HUD still has power. It is acting almost as if I am hitting the kill switch. I thought that it might have been a loose kickstand sensor or something minor of that nature, but then it started happening at stop lights, while I was in neutral after a minute or two of being idle.
On that same ride home, whilst on the freeway at a steady 75mph with a steady throttle input... the bike lurchs forward as if I have rolled off of the throttle... it struggles for a second or two and the power comes back on as it was before.
At first I thought it may just be dirty injectors, but then later moved my suspicion to the fuel pump. I do have a scorpio alarm system on the bike with the "kill fuel pump" option on it. I am definitely not pushing the series of buttons required to do this while I am riding. And the bike ran beautifully for the 3 weeks that I have owned it, and I knew the previous owner (a close personal friend of mine) and he never had a problem for several months that the alarm was installed.
I've been riding SS's for a few years now, so Im pretty sure Im not making some noob mistake that causes this...pretty sure
Any ideas are welcomed.
