If I add just a Y-pipe (stock exhaust), do I need the PCV and auto tune attachment to ensure it runs right? 3/4 exhaust, I would assume from the search that I would probably need to do do the PCV and auto tune - right? Going to do one or the other soon. Thanks ahead for the replies

the cat is the most restrictive part of an exhaust. removing it and not running a fuel controller kind of puts you borderline to where you may need it or not need it. The sad part is that the only way you'll know if you need it is to put it on a dyno which costs as much as a fuel controller :(

Actually we have seen many times when you ditch the cat a bike runs lean. what you're saying is that only the headers being swapped out require a full system and stock headers nowadays are very very good. the cat is the restrictive part of the exhaust.

you only need a PCV on full systems. Slip ons, 3/4 its a waste but on a full system its worth its wait in gold:fact

The cat is for emissions purposes and would have little to no effect on making a bike run lean. a full system allows much more flow therefore requires a fuel mapping system. The only thing you gain by swapping out the stock y pipe is saving on weight and will reduce the amount of heat. Save your money on a pcv and by slip ons.

I'm thinking about getting the PCV and I do have a 3/4 system on my bike. Don't know how lean it is running but it does need to be bumped up on the mixture. I'm thinking of doing a custom tune but may just go with just a plug in map till I have the money for the custom map.
I was going to get the Auto tune but I think that would be more of a headache to mess with. Then again there is always the reflash but for running on the street I think all I need for me is just a PCV with a custom map.
