I am looking to buy 98 or 2000 r1 , I know theta both are suspect to the 2nd gear issue but which one is more likely to have the issue 98 or 2000? Thanks
yeah those were the ones on top of the seat that slowed down the bike..... they suctioned to the passenger seat......:dundun: secondary butterfly valves?:whtfu:
i like the 2000.ok so i am torn between which one
1998 blue-$4000-22k miles, ap racing brake kit (calipers, rotors, MC), fox shock, ohlins damper, rearsets, and some motor work has been done
2000 red-$3800-5k miles, leo vince slip on, undertail
the 98 is decked out but the 2000 is CHERRY
yep, the polished frame on the 98 throws up warning flags.:fact2000 between the 2 choices given.
:thumbupi like the 2000.
ask the seller of the 98 if he'd sell the front brakes separately?
there's a forum member wanting a.p brakes i know of.
Why?yep, the polished frame on the 98 throws up warning flags.:fact
it often is done to mask crash damage.:factWhy?
Because who ever is responsible should be sentenced to life for bike abuse :factWhy?
NOTHING gets past the magical eye of sauron :fact:loli also see in the 98 pic a sticker on the bellypan, a hole cut in the mid panel for a slider. what looks like scratches on the top fairing infill panel, and scratching on the engines head.
better pics of the whole bike are needed!:fact
you're dead to us!:fact:hammer:well i ended up scoring a 2008 cbr1000rr for $5k
I can't believe you went from one end of the scale to the other. Early R1s are a friggen handful full of life and character, and CBR's do what they are told when they are told. Hard to fault them but that's the thing IMO, makes them boring in comparison. I rode a 08 CBR. My mate just got it and it had 500kms so I had to take it easy... Nice but not enough 'fight' in em.well i ended up scoring a 2008 cbr1000rr for $5k
Nice! Those Showa forks are a dream to work on. Don't know much about the shock other than it's sprung pretty stiff. The bike I setup had an Ohlins on it when I built the forks. Good all around machine from what I've read :thumbupwell i ended up scoring a 2008 cbr1000rr for $5k
