That bike is sick clean knackers!

Any plans for the rear caliper?
Yes Steve I purchased the front calipers the same as yours and a rear Brembo gold caliper. I am thinking about changing the bolts that hold the calipers together because they look a bit shitty compared to the rest of the product, maybe Ti or just gold plate the bastards.:sneaky

To Arxangelos I was going to say Litetech makes some pretty cool mirrors that look small, they also have mirror material that goes down the length of the arm which gives a surprising benefit. I'd go with black carbon. Then desire68 posted his champions LE with them attached. I have a little affinity for that bike. Lastly to Knackers, you could go with Ti but they won't give you the curb appeal that just polishing the stock bolts does. But you won't gain that -.3 grams of weight. ( if you change all of them )!

I say go with the ti. They are insanely lighter than the stock ones and are the ONLY acceptable choice for those calipers. :crash

Yeah, what the hell does Yamaha know? By the time you take the finish down to shine the stock ones probably weigh as little. 6 bolts, and they'll never take the polish of the OEM. But hey, 60 bucks or 6 minutes. If the .3grams makes you feel faster? The pretty factor makes me feel that way. And there's plenty of Ti and CF on mine, just where it's an obvious choice.

This was meant to be a comment between Knackers and me Gypsy. You are right in saying the stock bolts will work fine, but with that logic, so does the exhaust, wheels, brake lines, and the ti pieces you have replaced also. We all mod our bikes as per our own choices, what is important to one may not be to another. And for the record, I only tell him that because he and I have the same calipers only he has not had the opportunity to install his.

Hello mate, that front end is the :boobies
What model calipers are they and what brake lines are they, I really like the turn on them into the caliper :)

Thanks Flash!

These are Brembo GP4-RX calipers. They are in the HP family. The lines are Galfer SBK lines and are special order. They are made per spec for aftermarket calipers. The stock units have the inlet on the side and these lines would stick out and become damaged in a crash. Have them matched with a set of BrakeTech Axis iron rotors also.

No insult intended Dude. That front end IS beauty at it's best. I'm not done with mine and have looked into the nichol Brembos but there's a point, for me, that you say what can I USE. I have a Blackn'Blue theme going so when I saw the nichol from Brembos usual finish, I was excited. After talking to a coupole of semi pro's about how good those new 6 pod Yams are and wether or not I was turning my rotors blue it was logical to not add that exspence. Mine are Goodridge lines, Galfer rotors, performance friction pads, turning soon on Marchesinis. More performance than an average guy ( like me ) needs. As it is when they get hot. One finger stopping is impressive. And like I started out, if my budget was open I could see those nichols just for the looks alone. Maybe too shinny for my design though.

No problem bro. I just didn't want you to think I was criticizing anyone who didn't use ti bolts. If you are looking for something different, check out the Beringers. They are inexpensive compared to the Brembos and to be honest, somewhat lighter also. Plus they are one of the only vendors that make a 130mm caliper that fits the 07 & up R1's.

Here is a picture of my 09 front end with the Nickel Beringers on.

Suspension wise, would you say the big piston forks on the newer R1 is better than the 07 you've got?

Ive often thought it would be nice to put the fork bottoms from the 04 era onto the 09 forks :sneaky

Would be a nice combination I think :)

Actually, the blue biKe pictured is an 09. The bigger 30mm piston didn't really take off. With the separation of rebound and dampening to opposite fork legs, they became harder to work on. When I asked my suspension guy which way to go to upgrade, he said start with different forks. :lol The factory AMA team swapped out to 08 forks in the 09 season, and then Ohlins came out with the 25mm cartridge kit afterwards. The Ohlins in the picture are 25's. I agree with you that they should have kept with 108mm caliper spacing. When I started looking for calipers I began wishing I had gotten 06 model Ohlins as there are more options.

Steve, I've said it before...and I'll probably say it again...

BOING ! :bow
Thanks Ben! :flex:

There was a Italian caliper maker I had asked about a while ago. Someone help me, Started with a C ? They were gorgeous, a brushed aluminum finish. I got one reply, a member in Japan who had and liked them but I got no other feedback and no reply from their website. Still around or available?

Thanks Steve, but if I went for the gold plate on the bolts do you think it would take the heat? Let's face it you can't really see the bolts unless you were looking for them but I am fanatical about detail & what I like. Also what was the torque settings on the bolts when reassembling?
