It's nice bike, blacks My Favorite.
Wish I could ride one so I could have my own opinion on Feel / Power & Handling.

I doubt I'd ever be pushing that hard enough to Blow either One up.
Agreed...

+1 I will agree with you there

the 2011-12 ZX-10R unrestricted is more powerful with no other mods :fact , better power to weight ratio, its about 20 lbs. lighter too... and handles alot better in stock trim....

the BMWs are a nice bike, the motor reliability issues are there, but usually blow up at the track :hammer: ...

I've seen it happen twice, once on the earlier model on a tipover(tipover switch design has supposedly been fixed), and once on a straight the motor grenaded in the upper RPMs and wasn't bouncing off the limiter and always serviced properly...

that being said, I would actually pick the new R1 over the S1000RR, BMWs reliability sucks!

???? I will have to say that all of the brands have their reliability issues. Wasnt your new Kawasaki recalled right after its release? Yes. My 07 R1 had ECU issues and people complain about valve issues. The 09+ R1 has seen overheating issues, melted headlights, ect. The s1000rr has had the tip over, and a few blown engines.

My point is that there are a few ugly duckings in any brand. At least BMW is standing behind their work with a 3 year warranty, which no other brand is doing.

Your totally right and people just like to shvt on the other bike and be cynical. I think the only R1 with NO recall's was my iteration (5pw). All my honda's had issues, My Aprillia... Triplex's arguments are fan boi'ish and all these bikes are wicked yet they all have niggles. BMW has the best warranty out there and that speaks to itself. Does it make it a better bike no wholly but speaks to the brands commitment to the bike

:epimp Well put!

the beemer's a contender, it was when it first came out and even more so now. and to each his own, but damn, i think the bike is beautiful. with bmw having entered the game in a big way, it's not gonna be easy choosing my next ride when the 2013s come around.

Well if it matters I think the most wicked bike out there is the Aprilia :fact

If I could conbine different bikes into one to make my perfect bike, it would be... the beemer`s power, the handling of the new kawi, the sound of the xplane and the body/frame of the rsv4 : :boobies:sneaky

In europe Yamaha is the only brand to give you 3 years of warranty!
there is to say that here an r1 costs 17600 euro right now cause of the increased % tax ... from 20% to 21%:no

Happens a lot in Superstock over here, not much in Superbike because they often change cranks in those engines. It seems like pushing output over 180hp leads to failures involving the standard crank.

Another theory I've heard a lot of is that the frame is very small and relatively weak on the xplanes, you only have to take one apart to realise just how much weight they tried to save to compensate for the heavier engine. It seems that during a moderate crash, the frame flexes, which in turn flexes the cases dislodging shell/s leading to premature failure.
oh well, the second theory makes sense!
even more if you think that the motor is a structural part of the frame on the x-plane r1 which has never been before.you can see that looking at the upper joints, they got a sort of bearings .

Just been speaking to my Editor who was on the launch of the new R1 at Valencia, and has been back a week later for this BMW.

He said hands down, the Beemer is by far the better bike. I can't post too may details before the articles come out, but 25kph faster along the straight, much better handling, electronics, brakes etc. All round, no question which one he'd buy. He showed me the full press pack with all the details of the revisions and they've made tweaks to virtually every aspect of the bike, and they can be truly felt, adding up to a massively impressive bike.

But do they make the patterns for the fur yet, that is the question :lol
