My first time hearing that.... what exactly is a reflash? And if you accidentally forget to not switch is standard impossible to drive cause its too slow?

 

Do a search for 'ecu unleashed' or Jett tuning'.
You need to send your ecu to be reprogrammed. It fixes the glitchy fuelling in A mode for one thing, and also gets rid of the restrictions in the high end of the powerband, as well as other things.
Results in a bike that is much nicer to ride, and you'll never need to use anything but A mode after you get it done.

+1 used STD for maybe the first 2 months till i got used to the characteristics of the bike...once i went into A mode i never looked back

A. standard and B are shit.

 

Does the bike need to be reprogrammed completely to turn the bike on and keep it in A? Or there is no way around that and it needs to be shifted everytime?

 

Reflash is the only way I know.

What is going rate for used 09 - 11 r1 ecu, I am thinking about buying one and sending one to ebay guy. It is very hard to find one. Once you get your ecu flashed by ebay guy with YEC tune do you still have the A mode and standard and b mode?

 

So I just visited the jett tuning site ( assuming that its the best or only reflashing company ) I'm still very green with my motorcycle nomenclature, but aside from more top end, earlier fan activation, and always in A mode what other benefits can I look to see?

 

Yes just get the reflash first....its worth every penny.
I couldnt stand A mode before. but now its awesome.

 

A 90% of the time and standard mode when my girl, B mode when the roads get real bumpy here in Quebec I like the B mode.

 

B mode before reflash, A mode was too jerky...since Flash-Tune....A mode only!

I love A mode on highway rides, but i like STD better in local twisty rides because its less dangerous in the corners.

 

B mode before and after the reflash. A is still to jumpy for me, maybe my roads are bumpier than yours. Although A is MUCH better after the reflash. B is nice on the highway, much easier to maintain a constant speed.

 

Still standard for me as im still running it in. My dealer filled the bike with standard grade fuel so i get a lot of "pinking" on lower rpm's! I have to run this crap fuel out and put some good stuff in my tank! Really thinking about the reflash, any 2012 owners have anything to add about getting this done to a brand new bike?

you ought put some octane booster in your tank it should help i have to do that in the monte carlo on occation cuz sometimes when i need gas 92 Octane isnt always avalable

 

Didnt know there was such a thing other than A mode. A before and after. Reflash is a must for new or old. Does wonders for the bike.

When I go to A mode it feels like a new bike.
A is a bit much for everyday in traffic

Before the flash I didn`t use A mode at all.

 

I left out on mine the other day and it just felt wrong! Like it had a low tire or something! and I looked at the cluster and I was in Standard mode! I must have fat fingered the switch when I started the bike. Put it back in A and all was fine again :lol

 

Learn to ride in A mode as much as you can. Take it slow real slow. It will force you to learn throtle control.Then get a reflash and it will all come together. After all, you "we" bought an R1 for a reason.
