they are alluding to the new R3 as being part of the same R series of motorbikes from YAMAHA, its BRAND marketing at its best!!

jump to 1.20 and they bring it up front for you, yes that is an R6 you saw on the video, its for those who will recognize it from the streets
ohh its not just a race bike? ohh cool and i can have one too? but will be cheap on insurance and i can show off to my friend with a 250cc!

in fact, their target market is someone like Colin's wife... there are no mistakes; yamaha is very much aware of what they're doing... :yesnod

have you noticed how similar the nose is to the R6s!? that is no coincidence, its target marketing those who would like to get into bikes
and see the crazy kids running around but could never possibly afford a weekend toy of that caliber... hey lets ride our sporbikes to the park,

i'm certain the color scheme will be shared in a further attempt to set this idea on stone...

I think the blue/silver paint scheme is hideous... White and black schemes are good though. The R6 is a good looking bike and Yamaha is famous for letting the other guys catch up and pass before bringing out a new model.

Love the low seat height. That's been a concern for my gal on a lot of the small sportbikes she wants. Cool lil toy.

To the threads point though I would love to see the updates on the 15 model years already. Yamaha is taking FOREVER.

it has always been a november release as far as i know, yamaha is no kawasaki or suzuki or honda for that matter...

whats the big freakin' deal? new R1 will be here when it gets here..

i agree with not touching the R6 this time around actually, where the motorcycle industry is, best to let the R1 stand on its own for now :fact

People are just precumming.

If they release pictures in November, or December, doesn't matter. It won't be in stealers until Spring.

They are playing their cards so close to the chest because 2015 will be an important year for WSBK and homologation. They are waiting to release full specs and what not until the last moment. Seems like a chess match between them and Honda as Honda is supposed to have a 70k homologation V4 for WSBK. Nobody wants to show their cards early.

ohh yeh its obvious this time around there's a lot more on the table to be had if they get it right... :yesnod

i personally dont care if they're on the dealer floors in spring, as long as they've both available for viewing at the bike show...

i'll have to slowly start winning over the boss... what am i saying.. i am the boss!! looking forward to choosing between the two... :icon_lol:

Jump to 1.20? R6? Are we watching the same video? Lol

I dont think they will release or introduce a new r6 this time around. Only the R1. Yammy already has the R3 out and now the R1. As far as marketing strategy I don't think they want to introduce the new r6 just yet. They wouldn't want to pull away as much people to purchase the r1. They would want all potential r6 buyers to buy r1(pull them in). Think back when they introduced this generation r6. It wasnt until like 3+ yrs they brought out the crossplane r1... they will probably use the same strategy.

The r6 is still way competative in its class, won wsbk with Sike last year and dominating ama. The R1 is being outclass right now so they need to bring this new r1 out to stay competative.

That's my thoughts....

.
at 1:20 they start openly talking about the similarities between this new bike and the R series of bikes, R1 & R6 respectively.. thats what i meant...
all they had to do was sneak in a track shot to get people thinking, then strengthen this with actual discussion later in the video...
:yesnod

but you're pretty much dead on with the rest... its a marketing strategy... now R6 owners who have gotten bored with the smaller bike (and dont track them) can will have a few choices, a left over R1 with Xplanker making good tractable power, and for those who already have that, they can move up to an R1 with some serious power.. plenty of leftover R1s from 2012-2014 MY still available :yesnod

the R3 is a very good segment class to be involved in for yamaha, at least locally with the price of gas going up every summer, there are a lot of scooter riders running around with bicycle helmets, there is a severe need for some re-education about what real bikes are... but a 250cc is pretty much useless and gutless in the real world... 300ccPLUS is where the real game changers are at.. and thus far with this new bike YAMAHA will RULE that class, you can pretty much take that to the bank... ive seen plenty of young female riders who ask what the options are, yet puke a little in their mouths when someone brings up the kawi 300... no noh i mean a real bike they says... lmao

the only shitty part about 'em releasing this bike now is that there is no ABS version available, that will really hurt them in the long run...
yamaha's track record means we probably wont see that until 2-3 years into the running, and that is really a crying shame... :( :no

i tend to post, then edit n' add more details as i go along, its a really bad habit so press refresh from time to time... :lol
