All this talk about bolt stretch so i looked into it. Only thing i can find is head bolts on some car and truck engines use these. Not all bolts are like this. I highly doubt the crank main bolts are designed to stretch. And their use on case bolts wouldnt make sense either.

The 16 are supposed to have it done at least thats whats been going around. I sure hope so too.

Yes the 2016's have an updated transmission. BUT! Just got word today that all the 2016 R1's are coming back for a Recall on the crank bearings!..... im kidding...should have saved that one for April fools.

Man i would have been heated lol i deliberately waited for the 16 for that reason to hope they got all the kinks out of it. You def would have made a lot of people mad with that statement.

Just a heat shield. checked mine, looks about the same. Yours looks a little crooked on the shifter side but still pretty much in the right location. See you next Sunday on the Mountain!

thanks brah. :33:

i never really noticed it before. but after I got my bike back from getting the recall done i was combing over every inch of it.

This doesnt look right to me, there is a silver gasket sort of thing just chilling.

Should I be worried? pissed off?
the mechanic routed the wires incorrectly. Yamaha sent us an update about techs routing the shifter wire incorrectly because it doesn't leave enough room for movement. I wouldn't give the shop a hard time about it, just let them know they routed a few wires wrong. If it's a good shop they will apologize and correct it...hahaha, man he did it all wrong.... seriously I'd check the entire bike over. Check the countershaft sprocket nut, Check yer rear axle nut, also im Not here to scare people I'm just sayin....when I see wires routed that incorrect it makes me worry. Just sayin... also sorry I can't let this slide I've done too many of these god damn recalls and every ****ing one of them I get in from other shops has that damn grey tank hose routed incorrect also. I feel Hella bad for 2015 r1 owners. I wish you all the best of luck. Seriously how hard is it to rout the ****ing wires and hoses to factory spec? It's not a safety concern but it anoys the **** out of me every time I see it. I was always tought. Leave it better then the way it came.

Its dumping rain out here, but as soon as it stops ill ride back down there and let them know it looks like they ran some wires wrong, and that id like them to clean it up. Anything else i should have them do? Im not much of a mechanic, but i have tools and can use them and im not afraid to try stuff out myself. But if they need to pull then engine out again to do that stuff im gonna be pissed.

Hi YamahaGoldTech,

You've mentioned the countershaft sprocket nut a few times and I thought I'd better ask if you're talking about the front chain sprocket or something else.

Maybe a picture for clarity?

Just want to be sure to check the right piece.

Thx
- Mike

There is a picture probably 8-10 pages back when it was first highlighted. Yes it is the front chain sprocket AKA= countershaft sprocket.

I get my bike back tomorrow from its second stint at the shop for shifting issues and to replace a clutch cable bracket that they broke during the first service. We will see how she goes. I am pretty over it at this point. I've owned hondas, Aprilias, even Harleys, and this is the worst ownership experience that I have had.

This better be the last time it needs to get fixed. I just want to ride the bike! grumble grumble grumble

Yamaha tech is talking about the techs not torquing the front sprocket, because the come installed from japan already on counter sprocket so the techs thinks after seeing it installed already think it is torqued to spec when in reality it is finger tight this happend to me, also he is also advising people to make the the rear axle is torqued because techs are forgetting to torques axle where the rear sprocket is

quest for yamahagold tech, i check and double checked th piping diagram for routing of the gas vent lines, question is do they route forward of that fairing bracket or behind where it seems like it would belong but i could be wrong, i had no problem figuring out the wire ties on that routing diagram .

Thank you for posting the link to that very informative video. I applaud Yamaha South Africa for handling the recall with a better process that we get here in the States: no Tom/Dick/Harry working on these bikes, only factory technicians working in a central location dedicated solely to the recall work, bypassing the dealer network. And letting customers know that the problem is only experienced in racing applications.

Agreed. My shop did an excellent job but my confidence would have been much higher knowing factory techs were working on my bike in THAT shop. Very nice!
