Is that one made in China or Korea?
The Chinese ones have been having issues with leaking but this is the first time I've seen a split like that.

Beware of K&N filters.

The one that failed on my R1 was made in Korea, I think.
Dumb design welding the nut to the thin can.

I used a K&N on the wife's R3 and its leaking. Seems to be coming from the seal though not the nut but i could be wrong. Purchased a Yamaha one to replace. I'm done with K&N.

just got off the phone from K&N. They have a number dedicated to the KN-204 recall: 800-643-6320

I've one installed and one spare, both wrong (and Made in Thailand), the K&N guy told me he's sending them overnight to my address.... let's see if it's happening for real.

Still my 4L of Motul 300V changed just last month are going to be wasted :frown2:

You're supposed to be compensate for more than oil filter itself. If you have oil on your tires tell'em that it's unsafe for you to ride with them and you'd need 3-4 quarts of oil cuz the old ones are drained. K&n will send you check for those too. If you don't tell'em that, they won't give you $$$.

Also mentioned that you're lucky that you didn't crash and die due to their failed oil filter....that should smoothen the process if they try not to refund you for your oil and tires.

This is a car filter.
I wouldn't trust K&N with my Halloween candy...

Just received 2 new filters from K&N.
I should say at least they're trying to make it right, even do reading other experiences it looks pretty doom and gloom.

I'd probably get an OEM and replace it over the week-end.
