So, I've put some more miles on the EVR cat eliminator system I got last month. Workmanship is top-notch and it sounds absolutely glorious, and the exup-style valve cuts down the noise to an acceptable level around town. Now for the bad news: the overall performance isn't what I expected and is, in fact, a bit of a disappointment. Now, before I get my chops busted I will say that this isn't the fault of the hardware at all. I strongly suspect that the "special map" I was provided with when I purchased the pipe is not optimized, most plug-and-play files aren't. I'll admit that the previous fueling was a Woolich tune that was done on a dyno; even with the stock cat and valve in place (pre link-pipe) I had to keep the LIF control on. It would damn near stand up even on a full tank, and when I installed the MJS mid-pipe it was a hair more insane. While this current map did indeed smooth out the off-idle snatchiness even more than the Woolich did, the bike will hardly pull the front end up even when I snap the throttle open as quickly as I dare.
"Just get it dyno tuned!" you say, ah, but this EVR map file is locked down. You can't make ignition and/or fueling changes, unlike their other 3/4 cat delete files. This is unfortunate, because I'd like nothing more than my tuner to tweak the fueling and give this bike the performance it deserves. God knows I paid enough for it. Going to contact Graves this week and see what's going on, maybe there's an update I'm missing.
PS: I didn't fail to notice that they recommend their Auto-tune suite, imagine that. :lol But I may go that route, we'll see.
