We need to just hit up a track together and hang out...written words can be misinterpreted too easily.

Totally agree! I say that all the time to my buddy cause we text each other all time and every now and again we have to literally say "okay, no tone in text" and we kinda start over LOL.

I was just ball busting, I'm no one fancy around here, just a dude with a garage built bike who was brave enough to get a piece of paper that says he can race novice group. Didn't mean for any of it to be taken literally.

I was hoping to get a reaction out of my slip on comment and when i didn't I was hoping someone would laugh at the "structure" of what I posted. guess not...... :idhitit:

so on a serious note, is that the point of the EVR valve exhaust, I actually have no idea LOL. A performance version of the factory valve in the exhuast to meet noise requirements but also increase low end TQ with back pressure? I dunno seems silly to me.

Unless you have a job where your up at 4am to leave on your bike.... I've been that guy before :1pok: the whole neighborhood every morning :grin2:

You really need to ride one before and after. The EVR is so much better than a standard 3/4 system.

I don't think the MotoGP teams find the concept silly:

Yeah, that would be me during the summer. But with the shorter days coming I'll probably cage it during the fall & winter.

For all you know that valve could be for helping to start the bike lol
Mmm, mayhaps. But a butterfly valve situated in the exhaust tract has nowt to do with starting the bike.

"Think the valve is there solely to make the sound-testers happy? Think again. The technology is currently in use on Aprilia’s new RS-GP MotoGP racer and has been employed by other teams as well."
-Motorcyclist Online

The Ducatis also had them.

Again... I'm just generalizing a joke. But yeah I get it. I honestly would have thought those were for some kind of sound regulation since these bikes are hardly EVER below probably 5K RPMs
Yes but with an engine that spins to 16 or higher the valve can be used at much higher rpm. In any case we are seeing the use of the valves on many of the factory race bikes now. And it's not used for starting the machine.

So hooli ,, have you gone and bought the active tune yet ?
i was thinking of it but not sure yet ,, (euro spec e.c.u , graves map installed ) i've not track tested yet, but mid range roll-on seemed a little flat when i went for a road haul
i received a similar answer to you from shane when i contacted graves

Haven't ordered it yet, the bike runs fairly well as it stands. I'm trying to hold off until my tax return. :D

Ok, I'll most likely hear sh!t for this comment but I love very loud exhaust on a bike or car that you get from a full system or Y pipe with a slipon and a quality dyno tune. Even a loud bike you can drive out of the neighborhood quitely if the revs are down very low. I've never had a neighbor complain about my bikes. (LOL, maybe it's because I'm the guy they all call to fix stuff in their house or cars or at the very least borrow my tools.)

As much as I love loud I do recommend earplugs even though I don't use them. My hearing has been bad since the 70's from rock concerts and not using earplugs throughout my many years of riding. I pretty much have to say," what did you say" consistently during conversations.

did anybody with the EVR system have an issue with the welded bracket/nut on the pipe not lining up with the bracket underneath on the bike?
Mine lined up perfectly. Are you speaking of the black spacer that came with the system? Chuck Graves himself discusses it @ 0:48. The stock silver spacer comes out, the Graves aftermarket version replaces it:

I'm 51 (yeah I'm an old-ass so bite me. :321::laughing: ) and have been riding for over 30 years and yep, when I started out I wanted the loudest exhaust possible, because all my riding buddies had one on their bikes, I thought it sounded cool and I gave exactly zero f**ks back in the day. :lol Well, over the years I've grown wiser and started to rely not so much on the adage that "Loud pipes save lives." I'm really surprised at how the sound-insulation of today's autos effectively cut off the majority of outside noises; there have been times a loud sport bike or straight piped Harley has split right by me...had I not also been also a rider I wouldn't have noticed them until they were past me. I suffer from mild tinnitus and want to retain what hearing I have left so I wear earplugs nearly all the time.

As for neighbor relations, YMMV. My workday starts @ 5:00am and the last thing I wand to do is to piss off people. Even short-shifting, the moto equivalent of tip-toeing, you tend to still stand out. Now let me lose on a trackday and I'll rev the piss out of a damn bike.

With the R1 the short loud pipes have useless small throttle response. Loud = slow[emoji4]
