10 Day Delay

Just got off the phone with Yamaha Corporate (USA) at
(714)761-7300 like 10 minutes ago. Called to see if there was any more update on this so-called 10 day delay due to paperwork. Guess Yamaha does not concern itself with updating information regarding customer concerns or questions seeing as the rep on the phone gave me the same song and dance that dealers and customers have been getting for the last two or three weeks. They are still saying that there is a 10 day delay. Specifically asked the rep and her supervisor what this ten day delay actually means seeing that they started spitting out this story almost 2-3 weeks ago. They could not even tell me when this 10 day delay started or when it should be over so that bikes begin shipping again. Went even as far as telling the reps that we have been hearing this story for over two weeks now and that 14 is more than 10. She just laughed and said that even though it has been 14 days or more - all she knows is that they were told a 10 day delay due to paperwork problems with the importing of the R1's. My dealer told me to expect it the first or second week of April, but I will just plan on getting it sometime closer to May. Just sad that a multi billion dollar company cares so little about it's customers that they cannot even tell the truth or at least put as much effort forward as possible to fulfill customer expectations.

My date has been continually moved back. It started out March 22nd. Latest news is April 10th, but that date is REALLY confirmed, carved in stone. Yeah right. :(

This is in Belgium....

I think Yamaha has some SERIOUS supply problems. I wonder why they keep BS'ing the customers with the "paperwork delay" story.

Dear Yamaha, I paid you guys 2000$ over 4 months ago. Now I would like my bike please, preferrably before it starts SNOWING again. :rant :rant :rant :rant :rant

Second guess it everyday. The only reason I am waiting is because the wife wants a silver one. I watched and red, blue go by the last three weeks. One or two seem to be leaking through the "paperwork problems". My guess is that they can't meet demand because of production problems and this is they're excuse. Probably bad steel or something.

 You guys are crazy!!!! Seriously...there are so many good bikes out there!!!! Buy the damn ZX10....do yourself a favor!!!!

Seriously...read the post about the guy's bike blowing up after 10 miles on the new R1!!!!

You ride on the street? Read the RRW article by Sam Fleming from army of darkness race team! He says repeatedly you have to take a step back and ask why anyone would buy the R1 for the street!!!

I think the bike to have is the new Gix 750!!!

You guys are nuts to wait for any period of time if you can ride something else now!!!

Truthfully, it just broke 60 degrees here this week and has been raining for the last two weeks. Not missing much, but the anticipation is friggin killing me...my original plan from last year was to get the 750. I just can't get over the fact that I can get a bike this much cooler and faster for a mere grand more.

Too bad all those other bikes look GAY, otherwise I would think about it. GIX 750 looks like its from the 80's.

haha! I Have no choice but to be patient after reading the thread on wearing full leathers, I need a few more months to save up for those. My 04 r1 hasn't arrived yet so it is working out fine for me. However once it arrives i might be a little more excited about getting it.

Tell ya what, I've only got 150 posts, but I've been here a month longer than you.(I just prefer to read what some idiots spew rather than respond I guess)

Weather has been rideable here in TX for 2 months. I sold my 2001 @ March 10, my 04 was supposed to be here in Feb. So yep, much more of a delay and I just might jump ship too. This'll be my third R1, but I've had many other great bikes from Honda, Suzuki and Kawi and if Yamaha wants to keep my loyalty they'll speed things up a bit. Besides, if you look at the specs the Kawi outperforms the R1. I just like the R1 better, and I'm still loyal (but it's slipping).

So you have a bunch of posts - big friggin deal. All that means is you have a lot of time on your hands and nothing to do with it. Some of us have busy lives and cannot sit all day on the Internet and watch the world go by. Some of us actually get out there and ride for real - not just pose. I am the furthest thing from a fair weather fan. Been riding bikes since I was 17 - currently 32 now. Owned or ridden everything from a 250 up to litre class. Some of us demand a little better customer service for our $11,000 than you obviously do. Before you bad mouth people - get a clue. Yamaha has not done right by it's customers on this deal. If it were any other company many of you would already be all over their case for bad customer service and lack of information. Just because I love the R6 and R1 it does not mean I don't expect good CS too.
