Well guys, last July (2007) is when I bought this bike. Since then I've done a few things here and there. And I have the pictures to show my progress. The first ones are when I first got it. The windscreen was completely black, and cracked, and the front fender was shattered, but pieced together by using zip ties, for whatever reason. The bike before me was raced, so yes it has been down, on both sides. But I'm not worried, the thing drives straight as a arrow, and doesn't shake or anything. Anyways, on to the pics!

Since then, I have done a few things. Heres some pictures, (the last pic is of the wiring for my nitrous)

1. New double bubble windscreen (dark smoke)
2. New front fender in black
3. New grips
4. New radiator fan (other didn't work)
5. Removed the front frame sliders
6. ZEX Dry Nitrous kit, adjustable from 30-60 HP. Wired up for WOT activation
7. Painted the stock pipe semi-gloss black to make it less noticeable lol
8. Mirror block off plates installed

I'm sure there's something else, just thats off the top of my head.

Today I got my lowering strap. Put her on, and heres some pictures. Looks sweet.

My plans are to lengthen the swing-arm out about 7 inches, and re-mount my nitrous bottle in the swing-arm so the rear tire doesn't hit the bottle on bumps.

Things to come: (more than likely this winter)
1. Lengthen swing-arm 7 inches (swing arm extensions)
2. Re-mount nitrous bottle in between the swing arm and rear tire. (after i lengthen the swing arm)
3. PC III with a custom map on the dyno (on 45HP shot and 60HP)
4. Arata full titanium exhaust (or a sidewinder drag exhaust, kinda undecided)
5. rear lowering link (3 inch drop)
6. Shinko tires (soft compound for the dragstrip)

MORE TO COME!!!

when i extend my swing arm out, the gap in between the tire and the swing arm's u shape is where its gonna be mounted. I dont have a siphon tube in right now, so where its mounted now is in efficient when the nitrous gets lower it will be more sparratick hits. also because im lowering the rear 3 inches with a link. the way it is now, with stock height, the bottle is only 2 to 3 inches away from the tire when i sit on it. and i already rubbed the bottle once with the tire. its not gonna fit with the bike lowered.

hey you guys i wanna lower the front more, is it advisable to lower it a good two inches through the triple tree? or is that not a good way. i really dont wanna spend money to cut the fork springs internally.
also is it safe doing the triple??????

thanks I like it too with the yellow/black, it just works you know. bout the lowering its only a lowering strap. so when I take it out i take the strap off. I haven't tried taking it out with the strap on, i could imagine it would suck being the forks are bottomed out. with the instructions with the strap they recommend you don't use it street driving, but you can easily turn the steering with the strap on no problem.

You need to support the mass of the bike with a floor jack, just put a jack under the Exup it will lift the weight of the bike safely. Then, loosen the top clamps and the bottom clamps, then slide the tubes up one side at a time and make sure they are even. The front won't really fall by itself, but it will be harder to get even if you don't have the rest of the bike supported :thumbup

i actually just got done lowering it through the tree. I lowered it 2 inches through the tree. and i didnt support the exup either well mostly because i didnt read your post yet lol. it actually worked out fine. now its slammed big time haha.

Just saw this and thought it was mine :)

My 99 is basically identical in colour (belly ban on mine is bigger so a bit more black - but pretty much exactly the same - I was doing an aniversary paintjob and kinda liked the plain look so never finished it).
My compliments on a great choice of colour matey (I'll take some pics of mine at some point and post them up).

hell yeah one thing at a time, she'll shape right up. I think im going with the rear lowering link next to lower it somewhere about 3 inches in rear.
so my guesses being you have been deployed 3 times right? you probably a Staff Sergeant? what unit are you deployed with?

I'm in the Army as well, 492 EN Co in MN.

later bro

well no major update, other than im buying a nice adjustable lowering link from a r1 forum member. $180 bucks, doing that this coming friday so hopefully the following monday or tuesday the link will come in the mail!

Will be also modifying my kick stand its a bit too long! i tried taking it off, and the kickstand sensor has two bolts with nuts on the end holding it on, but it uses a allen wrench for the head, which is really small, and I keep breaking off allen wrenches. can i just cut the wires to the kick stand, and splice them together to eliminate the kickstand sensor??

why not just lay the bike on it's side, as it will never be able to ride like it was made to be ridden....Fast and leaned way the heck over :rock just kidding bro straight lines are not my thing but you seem to be doing it tastefully...do you plan on racing it?
