Was just looking for opinions about the 2005 Hayabusa. I am thinking about trading in my 2004 Lava Red R1 for a 2005 Red and black Hayabusa. Haven't had a chance to ride the Busa yet, but from sitting on it, it feels like it would be a much more comfortable bike. It doesn't have that extreme downward seat angle like the R1. Seems more comfortable for interstate runs as well. I heard they have made some changes for the 05 Model year. Has anyone ridden the Busas or can anyone provide any good positives or negatives.

Thank you

There have been numerous threads on this very same topic. If you use the search function on this website, you will find hours of reading enjoyment. You can't go wrong with either bike.

I have owned both an 04 R1 and an 03 busa at the sawm time. Busas are awesome, but you will be dissapointed in it after riding your R1. Honestly.

"Seems more comfortable for interstate runs " if that is what you are looking for, than the Busa is your bike. Like Wheatman said, in the right hands they will get around just fine. We have a couple guys in our club and they suprise a lot of people. I am sure those same people would be a lot faster on a smaller bike, but the Busa can be a couch crusier too. I wouldn't mind having one.

like comparing apples to oranges, both are good bikes in different ways, I think it more comes down to what sort of riding you do. Whether it's trackdays, sunday morning blasts up the mountain or high speed interstate cruising. Though both bikes can do both jobs easily enough each is better at one or the other.

Mostly I ride my R1 all over the place. I don't really go flying through the twisties. Mostly the only racing I do is at the drag strip. I do a lot of higher speed interstate riding over long distances. I am very comfortable on the R1, but the steep seat angle gets to be annoying after 100 miles or so. I also don't find the R1 to be that comfortable to lay down low on. Don't get me wrong I love the R1 and put over 500 miles on it the first day I owned it. I am just thinking the Busa may be a better fit for my style of riding. I was looking at the manual for the 2005 model and dry weight is listed at 478lbs. What does the R1 weigh in at?

Try to find someone that has a Busa and give her a try, the first thing youll notice is the comfort then the torque. Hell, now that i think about it a little more i may buy one myself as another bike.:fact :beer :beer

I think you will think the the Busa is a pig. My buddy has one and it is comfortable but you can feel the weight on acceleration and turning the thing. I doesn't hit like your R1. Put a Corbin on your R1 and you can ride it all day. But if you like the Busa, buy one.

I found the 04-05 R1 to be Honda like comfy(more upright vs 98-03) without the rock hard seat when riding a buddies 04 or sitting on one. So I can't see how the Busa can be that much more comfy.

I couldn't see looking any where in the range of Busaville with an 04-05 R1 with just a few mods if you already own one. Then again I see some guys on here seem to never be happy with their bikes.

I have owned both bikes at the same time. The Busa is not as heavy as it looks, once going, it is quite nimble and will surprise a lot of sports bikes in the twisties. It is more comfortable than the R1 and for pillions and high speed touring there is no comparison (my wife HATES being pillion on the R1!). The main weakness on the Busa compared to the R1 is the brakes.

Both bikes are fantastic. The R1 has the edge as a sports bike and in the looks dept. but as an all-round package the Busa is very hard to beat (once you sort the brakes).

Hey, spoil yourself, get both! :)
