Hi all

My first post.

Just sold my GSXR 1000 k9 and im looking at buying an R1. I have ridden a mates 2006 R1 and got on well with it,much better than the K9. A 2006 is a little old for me so will a 2008 feel the same or do i just go for a 2009/10 big bang version?

06 will be less restrictive, 08 is (correct me if im wrong) lighter than the newer 09/10 models. big difference however between the 08 and 09/10 models. one runs a conventional 2x2 firing order and the 09/10 runs a cross plane motor firing all cylinders independently. ultimately the choice is yours but you need to go ride all 3 models. dont forget the 07 model either. same as the 08. i like the 09+ models but i thought they were hideous looking at first but grew on me over time.

I bought my 07 as well, because I didn't like the "bug eye" look of the 09+. Just like GG above, it's kinda grown on me, especially since I want to put some retarded headlight bulbs in my 07 and am worried about melting the lens ;)

07/08 is the same, 09-11 adds three map modes you can select, 2012 added traction control :)

07 / 08 for that higher rpm power or 09 plus for that lower rpm power. Same mods the 07/08 will pull more harder all the way to redline. ( slip on , y-pipe and FT flash) The 09 plus power comes on sooner and doesn't pull as hard in the higher rpm.
