No dip stick, only the sight glass...

 

just the window bud, check it on level ground with the bike standing straight, not on the kickstand:thumbup

 

R1s have never had dipsticks. Only sight glasses.

 

I know the '06 and up R6 has the dipstick, but not the R1's. Not for sure on the older R6's.

ah k i figured but just in case i just maybe didnt see it.
yes the older ones did- at least my 03 did and my brothers 06 does.
okay so use the glass window with bike level- the oil should be half way up the glass or where? and should it be hot or cold? probably hot...

 

Bike stood-up straight on level ground with the engine cold.
The oil level ideally should be between the upper and lower marks as seen through the round sight glass.
