I have an o7 and rode the 07 Gixxer 1000(same exact bike as 08), and what's funny is, they feel like they have almost the same powerband, it will go to the rider....

as far as looks go, the R1 looks way better, and the 07 R1 has more power than the 04-06 R1 as does the Gixxer to the previous one, especially on top...

the brakes and suspension stock for stock are wayyy better on the R1...I can guarantee that, tell your bro to watch his forkseals, they are a bitch on the gixx 1000s...even without wheelies

Both are very good bikes. Just don't let your ego's get in the way of safe riding.

 

have him change those mirrors for some Rizoma or something....hell,have him order a set from a 1098,they look awesome (but are worthless!)

I usually dont care about looks.. but damn the R1 really makes the Gixxer look hideous!!

I could care less about the HP talk.. both of those bikes are easily making 160+ at the rear wheel.. more than enough to go fast with..

My bro was goona get the black 08 R! but then he decided to get gixxer. There is couple things i like about gixxer, like it tells you what gear u in, The A, B C Mode thing and he is getting a single exhaust for it. Yea we will be switching bike to see the difference.

when you switch bikes , you will notice the difference in brakes, and probably the suspension, they are both animals, and the frame snapping issues on the gixxer really doesn't pertain to the 07-08s unless you crash into a brick wall:scared

the gixxer is sexy as hell in that color. i think the blackish R1 or the Redish (cant remember actual color names cuz im not a chick) would make for better comparison. mod em up and " Lets get it on"
