2016 R1 oil change... original oil

Hey guys...

Here is the scenario... A 2016 R1 has about 200 miles on it with the original oil. It’s barely been ridden. Should the oil be changed at this point? It’s 5 years old, but it’s barely used. My suggestion was to go ahead and change it, but the argument is that it’s only got 200 miles on the original oil and is still fine.
What do you guys think?

For the sake of a few dollars compared to the what the bike is worth, change it.
Oil change intervals are short anyway on new motors anyway. And as good as engineering is now, new parts as they run in will make the oil more contaminated.
I have oil still in containers which is three years old, for my Aprilia, i and never got a chance to use it after I bought the a R1 and with this epidemic. But it has been kept inside and I will use that, but it has never been in an engine.
So that has not run for three years and say I had just changed the oil before them three years I would still change it. Infact it done one trackday. One thing I wish I had done is put fuel stabliser in the bike and run it up before standing it up for so long.
Always best to fill the fuel tank right up with fuel stabliser if you are going to leave it for a long time as that , which stops any condensation in the tank too. I agree with two Darkhorse and 2muchblue, change it.

Might as well flush the coolant too. Then you'd be good to go for sometime.

Everyone has given you good advice. I would also warm the engine before changing the oil, not to high temp, but enough to get the viscosity lowered & coat the surfaces; let sit to drain to bottom, then empty. Typical breakin is 500 mi, however, any vehicle sitting for 5 yrs could have some degree of varnish or other residues over time. I also highly recommend using Blackstone labs to perform a full oil analysis on any vehicle. They can tell you what’s going on inside hte engine & tell you if our oil can last longer due to the TBN value (lubricity)
