Anyone else have clearance problems with CRG brake lever

I picked up a set of CRG gold clutch and brake levers at MotoGP at Laguna Seca last weekend, installed them a few nights ago. I have a nasty clearnace problem with the brake lever hitting the frame stay when turning the bars hard left, and it actually depresses the brake lever enough to clamp down on the brakes pretty hard.

I noticed this when I was backing the bike into my garage the first night I had them on, and I didn't expect the sudden stop, and almost dropped the bike.

I don't have a picture yet to illustrate what I'm saying, but it is the non-adjustable part of the lever that hits the frame stay, so adjusting the lever has no effect on this problem.

I have searched the forums for "CRG" and read countless posts, but no one seems to have this problem......

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

Ok, here are two pictures I just took.

I should point out that the shiny area seen in the picture was my attempt to use my Dremel to grind off a little bit of the fairing stay to provide the necessary clearance. I don't have the right grinder bit, so I wasn't able to do more than just literally scratch the surface.

Sorry, this one's a little fuzzy... too much close up.

I don't have the packing slips any more, but I double checked before I left MotoGP that they were very clearly labeled as brake and clutch for 04-05 R1.

possibly that your brake lever perch is loose and it moved to where it would interfere or it was setup like that from the dealer.. try rotating everything down like a tiny bit.. and make sure everthing is tight...

Ok, I looked closely at both levers this morning, and they do have the part numbers stamped in them.

Clutch lever: AN-631

Brake lever: RB-511

So, I may have gotten the wrong brake lever after all, even though the package it was in was clearly labeled 2004-2005 R1. I'll contact the folks I bought them from and see if they will swap it for the right part number.

Thanks all.

My mistake...It should be RB-511 (Sorry)...Definitely try and move the lever down a bit...

Ok, crisis has been solved.

Thanks to the poster above who suggested I check the alignment of the brake master cylinder assembly. That was the problem.

I had the dealership install braided stainless steel front brake lines when the bike was brand new, so I never realized it was slightly out of proper alignment.

I realigned the master cylinde assembly, and everything is now exactly as it should be.

Thanks all!!

So what did you do? move it down? I have the braided lines in the way hitting the fork, I'm having the same problem.

Let me know.

Thanks

Sounds like you did not get your lines angled correctly when you installed the. You'll probably have to loosen the banjo bolt, and twist the lines away from the fork, to allow for the master cylinder to be tilted down.
